Toyota Material Handling, a leading provider of material handling equipment and solutions in North America, is expanding its energy offerings with the launch of Toyota’s new 5/35 Lithium-ion Battery series. This new battery lineup reflects ongoing innovation at Toyota Material Handling North America (TMHNA), which brings together the strengths of both the Toyota and Raymond brands to offer integrated energy solutions.

Designed to meet diverse operational needs, the 5/35 batteries come in various configurations aimed at enhancing productivity while providing a maintenance-free and cost-effective power source. Crafted using the Toyota Production System, these batteries support Toyota’s focus on innovation, operational excellence, and environmental responsibility.

“The rollout of this new lithium-ion battery series highlights Toyota’s dedication to improving energy efficiency and delivering innovative solutions that elevate operational performance,” said Damon Hosmer, TMHNA Business Unit Leader and General Manager of Energy Solutions. “Our customers benefit from simplified operations, improved reliability, and a stronger bottom line.”

These lithium-ion batteries come in 24V, 36V, and 48V options and are designed to fit a broad range of Toyota forklifts across various industries, including cold storage, food and beverage, and manufacturing. Built to withstand extreme temperatures, they perform consistently in conditions ranging from -22°F to 122°F, ensuring reliable operation in diverse environments.

To guarantee a perfect fit and maintain balance within different forklift compartments, the batteries include an integrated counterweight and adjustable spacers, removing the need for separate spacers. The design also features dual A320 charge ports with easy ergonomic access, compatible with both single and dual chargers for flexible charging options.

A dedicated truck connector equipped with drive-away protection prevents accidental disconnections during charging, enhancing safety and operational efficiency. This thoughtful feature helps reduce downtime and keeps forklifts ready for use without unexpected interruptions.

Toyota’s lithium-ion chargers are fully compatible with the new 5/35 battery series and communicate directly with the batteries’ onboard management system to optimize charging performance. These chargers offer a modular design for easy servicing and future expansion, an auto bypass feature to maintain continuous operation, and hold UL® and CEC certifications for compliance in the U.S. and Canada. Additionally, they come with a six-year limited warranty covering parts, labor, and travel expenses.

The new batteries support rapid charging—up to one hour with dual-cable fast chargers—and offer a warranty cycle life of up to 5,000 cycles. These features contribute to reduced downtime and lower maintenance costs, driving higher productivity and efficiency.

“Toyota Material Handling North America continues to lead the industry by delivering dependable, comprehensive material handling solutions that help customers optimize their operations,” said Hosmer. “The introduction of this lithium-ion battery series reinforces our commitment to innovation and customer success.”

Toyota Material Handling provides a broad range of equipment, including forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, pallet jacks, container handlers, automated guided vehicles, and tow tractors, as well as aerial work platforms, fleet management services, and advanced automation design.
