Tata Power has commissioned a 180 kW ultra-fast electric vehicle charging station along the Mumbai–Ahmedabad highway, marking a major step forward in strengthening India’s intercity EV infrastructure and enabling faster long-distance travel. Located at Vithal Kamat Restaurant in Manor on NH-48, the charging station is strategically positioned on one of the country’s busiest transport corridors. Designed to significantly reduce charging times, the high-capacity charger enables electric vehicles to charge from 20 percent to 80 percent in approximately 15 to 30 minutes, improving efficiency for both personal and commercial users.

The new installation is part of Tata Power’s expanding EZ Charge network and supports widely used CCS2 fast-charging standards, ensuring compatibility with a broad range of electric vehicles. The development addresses one of the key barriers to EV adoption—range anxiety—by providing reliable, high-speed charging access on highways.

In addition to charging capabilities, the location offers a comfortable rest stop for travelers, with access to clean facilities, dining options, and relaxation areas. This integration of convenience and infrastructure enhances the overall travel experience for EV users, making long-distance journeys more practical and appealing.

The launch aligns with Tata Power’s broader strategy to build a robust and accessible EV charging ecosystem across India. The company currently operates more than 200,000 home chargers, over 6,700 public and semi-public charging points, and more than 1,200 e-bus charging stations across 630 cities and towns. Its growing highway network, including hundreds of chargers, reflects a strong focus on enabling seamless intercity mobility.

The charging experience is further enhanced through the Tata Power EZ Charge mobile application, which allows users to locate stations, check real-time availability, and complete digital payments with ease.

The newly installed charger is expected to serve approximately 25 to 30 vehicles per day, contributing to increased adoption of electric vehicles on key routes. This initiative supports India’s broader clean mobility goals by improving accessibility, reducing travel constraints, and encouraging a shift toward sustainable transportation.

Through continued investments in high-speed charging infrastructure, Tata Power is playing a pivotal role in accelerating the transition to greener mobility solutions across the country. Tata Power continues to play a central role in India’s energy landscape, with a diversified portfolio spanning generation, transmission, distribution, and renewable energy. The company remains focused on expanding grid capacity and supporting the country’s transition toward a more resilient and sustainable power ecosystem.
