Škoda Auto has demonstrated the long-distance capability of its new electric seven-seater Peaq after a production vehicle travelled 936 kilometres on a single battery charge during a specially planned record drive. The journey was undertaken by two Škoda employees, Marek Jež and Jakub Krs, who set out from Mladá Boleslav in the Czech Republic and travelled through Germany to the Netherlands without recharging the vehicle.

The record attempt was conducted under the supervision of international certification authority TÜV SÜD. The series-production Škoda Peaq 90 used for the journey was fitted with a 91 kWh traction battery, with 86 kWh usable capacity. The electric SUV has a power output of 210 kW, rear-wheel drive and 19-inch wheels fitted with standard low-rolling-resistance tyres.

The 936 km distance was achieved at an average energy consumption of just 9.2 kWh per 100 kilometres. The result is significantly higher than the Peaq 90’s homologated WLTP range of up to 647 kilometres. The record drive exceeded the official range figure by 289 kilometres, or nearly 45 percent.

Jakub Krs, one of the drivers and responsible for high-voltage battery strategy at Škoda Auto, said the aim was to demonstrate what the vehicle’s technology could achieve when operated under carefully planned conditions. “To maximise the range, we selected the most suitable route and adapted our driving style accordingly,” he said.

Marek Jež, Head of the Peaq model series, added that everyday customers would use the vehicle differently and enjoy its driving performance, comfort and onboard technology. The record attempt began at Škoda Auto’s headquarters in Mladá Boleslav at midday on August 25. The drivers travelled through Germany, taking breaks to change drivers, rest and eat. They reached the Netherlands early the following morning and completed the journey later that day in the seaside town of Zandvoort.

The Škoda Peaq benefits from carefully developed aerodynamics, with a drag coefficient of 0.249. The model is also the largest and most spacious SUV in the Škoda portfolio. Built at Škoda Auto’s main plant in Mladá Boleslav, the Peaq introduces several new features for the brand. These include flush door handles, a panoramic roof with Dynamic Shade Control and bidirectional charging capability.

Customer response to the new electric flagship has also been encouraging. Škoda Auto said it has received more than 10,000 orders for the Peaq so far. The 936 km drive highlights the potential of modern electric vehicle technology when efficient driving, route planning, aerodynamics and battery performance are brought together.
