As manufacturers push for higher productivity, longer tool life and greater process reliability, cutting-tool performance is becoming increasingly critical to the overall machining process. At AMB 2026, CemeCon AG will bring its expertise in advanced coating technologies to Stuttgart, demonstrating how developments in HiPIMS (High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering) and Diamond coatings are helping cutting-tool manufacturers address the changing demands of modern metalworking.

Taking place from 15 to 19 September 2026 at Messe Stuttgart, AMB will bring together the global metalworking community around the theme “Where Metal Comes Alive”. The exhibition spans the broader manufacturing ecosystem, bringing machine tools, precision tools, automation, measurement technology, software and digitalisation together on one platform. For CemeCon, whose technologies directly influence the performance of precision cutting tools, the exhibition offers an opportunity to engage with manufacturers and technology users around one of the most critical stages of the machining process: the tool-workpiece interface.

At its booth, CemeCon will showcase its expertise across HiPIMS and Diamond coating technologies, with solutions addressing a range of machining applications and material requirements. Its HiPIMS portfolio spans coatings for unalloyed, alloyed and high-speed steels, stainless steel, titanium and non-ferrous metals such as aluminium, while its Diamond coatings are built for highly abrasive materials including CFRP, GFRP, graphite, ceramics and composites. The company will also highlight application-specific coating approaches for cutting inserts and micro-tools, where coating characteristics directly influence tool geometry, wear behaviour and machining performance.

Among the technologies drawing attention is MultiCon®, CemeCon’s AlCrN-based HiPIMS coating built for flexibility. As production environments increasingly involve changing workpiece materials, smaller batches and diverse machining requirements, the ability to deliver reliable performance across different applications is becoming increasingly valuable. Alongside such flexible solutions, CemeCon’s wider coating portfolio shows how coating materials and processes can be adapted to specific requirements, from high-speed machining and difficult steels to titanium, aluminium and composite materials.

This application-focused approach reflects CemeCon’s broader view of coating technology. Rather than treating a coating as an isolated layer applied to a finished tool, the company works across substrate, tool geometry, surface preparation, coating material, coating thickness, finishing and machining conditions, matching the coating process to the performance requirements of the tool and its intended application.

“The future of metalworking will benefit from HiPIMS and Diamond coating technologies that make machining more productive, reliable and adaptable. We see advanced coating technology as an important part of this development because the right coating will help cutting tools perform more effectively under increasingly demanding conditions. AMB provides an important platform for us to exchange ideas with manufacturers and demonstrate how coating technology  contribute to the next generation of machining,” said Bernd Hermeler, Chief Executive Officer, CemeCon AG.

The focus also connects with the wider direction of AMB 2026, where the conversation around metalworking extends beyond individual machines toward the technologies shaping the complete production process. Automation, artificial intelligence and the circular economy are among AMB 2026’s focus themes, reflecting the industry’s effort to increase productivity while advancing sustainable, resource-efficient manufacturing.

CemeCon’s participation comes as the company marks 40 years of expertise in coating technology. From HiPIMS and Diamond coatings to coating materials, coating systems, engineering and coating services, the company has built an integrated offering that supports precision-tool manufacturers across every stage of coating development and production, from external coating services to technologies that let manufacturers establish coating capabilities in-house, backed by process development, installation and technical support.

At AMB 2026, this combination of coating technology and application engineering will place CemeCon within a wider industry discussion on how cutting tools need to evolve alongside modern machining. As manufacturers work with increasingly demanding materials and seek greater productivity from every machining operation, the performance engineered into the tool’s surface is becoming an increasingly important part of the equation.

Visitors can meet CemeCon and explore its coating technologies and application expertise at Hall 3, Stand 3C61, during AMB, International Exhibition for Metal Working, taking place from 15 to 19 September 2026 at Messe Stuttgart, Germany.
