Hindalco Industries Limited, the metals flagship of the Aditya Birla Group, announced its financial results for the quarter ended December 31, 2025, delivering steady growth despite global volatility and operational headwinds. Consolidated EBITDA for the third quarter rose 5% year-on-year to ₹8,543 crore. Profit after tax (before exceptional items) increased 8% to ₹4,051 crore compared to the same quarter last year.
Reported net profit stood at ₹2,049 crore versus ₹3,735 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year, reflecting the impact of the Oswego disruption. This was partly offset by record profitability in the India business and continued cost efficiencies at Novelis Inc.
The India business delivered an all-time high performance, supported by favourable macroeconomic conditions, enhanced raw material security, product mix improvement and sustained operational efficiencies. Growth was further strengthened by value-added offerings and focused execution across key segments.
Novelis recorded a 6% improvement in EBITDA per tonne despite lower shipment volumes due to the Oswego disruption. The performance underscores strong cost optimisation measures and operational discipline across its facilities. While short-term capacity constraints remain, the underlying business fundamentals continue to be robust.
Commenting on the results, Satish Pai, Managing Director, said the company maintained growth momentum amid a challenging global environment. He noted that strong domestic operations helped mitigate the impact of tariffs and temporary disruptions, supported by disciplined cost management and operational excellence across businesses.
The company advanced its downstream expansion strategy during the quarter, commissioning and ramping up projects including Aditya FRP, battery foil, AC fin-coating, and copper tubes. These initiatives are aligned with rising demand in automotive, renewable energy and advanced manufacturing sectors.
Looking ahead, Hindalco has outlined a clear roadmap to scale its upstream capacities. Aluminium production capacity is planned to increase from 1.3 million tonnes to 1.7 million tonnes, while copper smelting capacity is set to expand from 400 KT to 700 KT. At Novelis, the 600 KT Bay Minette project remains on track for commissioning in the second half of FY27 and is expected to serve as a major growth catalyst.
Sustainability continues to be integral to Hindalco’s long-term strategy. The company secured an overall score of 89/100 in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) rankings as of December 19, 2025 — five points ahead of its nearest peer. It achieved a score of 90 in the Environmental dimension, placing it in the 100th percentile, driven by strong performance in water stewardship, biodiversity management and circular economy initiatives.
Key environmental milestones include expansion of rainwater harvesting capacity to nearly 18 million cubic metres, cumulative plantation of 5.41 million trees, development of three lakh mangroves and native species across 164 hectares, and utilisation of more than 11 million tonnes of waste, conserving natural resources. Hindalco remains the only company to rank first in the aluminium industry segment of the CSA rankings for six consecutive years, reaffirming its leadership in responsible and sustainable metals manufacturing.
