Godrej Enterprises Group has commenced operations at its new Material Handling Equipment (MHE) manufacturing facility in Khalapur, Maharashtra, strengthening its manufacturing capabilities and supporting the growing needs of India’s logistics, warehousing and industrial sectors. Located within the 360-acre Naoroji Godrej Industrial Park, the state-of-the-art facility has been established to meet increasing demand from industries including manufacturing, e-commerce, quick commerce, pharmaceuticals, automotive, engineering and warehousing. The plant has an initial annual production capacity of 6,000 units, with the flexibility to expand to 15,000 units as market demand grows.

The new facility is strategically located near major logistics gateways, including Nhava Sheva Port and the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport, enabling faster access to domestic and international markets. It will manufacture a broad portfolio of material handling equipment, including articulated trucks, a segment in which Godrej is the only Indian manufacturer. These products are currently exported to more than 40 countries, underscoring the company’s engineering capabilities and global market presence.

Commenting on the commissioning of the facility, Anil Lingayat, Business Head, Material Handling Equipment Business, Godrej Enterprises Group, said, “The Khalapur facility represents a significant step in expanding India’s material handling manufacturing ecosystem. By combining advanced automation, digital manufacturing and indigenous engineering, we are enhancing our ability to deliver high-quality solutions for a rapidly evolving logistics landscape. As India’s manufacturing and infrastructure sectors continue to grow, efficient material movement will play an increasingly important role in improving supply chain performance. This investment reinforces our commitment to supporting national initiatives such as Make in India, PM Gati Shakti and Viksit Bharat.”

Built as a future-ready manufacturing hub, the facility incorporates Industry 4.0 technologies across key production processes. Robotic welding, automated painting, digital assembly guidance, intelligent quality inspection systems and advanced end-of-line testing have been integrated to improve manufacturing precision, product quality and operational efficiency.

Sustainability has been embedded into the facility’s operations through resource-efficient manufacturing practices, energy-efficient technologies and automated paint systems that help reduce environmental impact. These initiatives align with Godrej Enterprises Group’s broader commitment to responsible manufacturing and sustainable business practices. The company was recently awarded the EcoVadis Gold Medal, placing it among the top five percent of companies globally assessed for sustainability performance.

The commissioning of the Khalapur facility further strengthens Godrej Enterprises Group’s position as a leading engineering and manufacturing company while reinforcing its commitment to innovation, indigenous manufacturing and the development of world-class solutions that support India’s emergence as a globally competitive manufacturing and logistics hub.
