Hindustan Zinc Limited, the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and among the top 10 silver producers globally, has announced that registrations for the third edition of the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon (VZCHM) have crossed 5,500 participants, a month ahead of the event scheduled for September 6, 2026. The strong response underscores the marathon’s growing popularity and reinforces Udaipur’s emergence as a leading destination for sports tourism and community running.
Organised by Hindustan Zinc in association with Anybody Can Run, the marathon is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and affiliated with World Athletics. Branded as “India’s Most Beautiful Marathon,” the event will take participants through Udaipur’s scenic lakes, Aravalli Hills and iconic heritage landmarks while promoting fitness, community participation and responsible social action through the #RunForZeroHunger campaign.
Registrations have gathered strong momentum across all race categories, with more than 800 runners signing up for the 21.097-km Half Marathon, over 1,500 participants for the 10-km Cool Run, and more than 3,200 entrants for the 5-km Dream Run. The event is expected to attract professional athletes, recreational runners, families, students and corporate teams from across India and overseas.
Sharing her experience, Ashmika Sharma, a regular participant from Udaipur, said the marathon offers a unique opportunity to run through the city’s picturesque landscape while celebrating its culture and community spirit. She added that this year she looks forward to competing in the half marathon after participating in the previous editions.
The race will begin from the historic Field Club, Udaipur, with the half marathon route passing landmarks including Fateh Sagar Lake, Rotary Circle, Sunset Point Park, Nehru Garden and Saheliyon Ki Bari. Dedicated 10-km and 5-km routes have been planned to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for participants of all age groups and fitness levels. International participant Amanda Dascoulias from the United States said the event offers a distinctive opportunity to experience Udaipur’s natural beauty and heritage while sharing the course with runners from around the world.
Building on the success of last year’s edition, which attracted 7,000 runners from 27 Indian states and several countries, the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon continues to strengthen Udaipur’s profile as a destination for international sporting events. Beyond promoting health and fitness, the marathon is expected to generate significant economic benefits for the city by boosting tourism, hospitality, retail and local businesses. Registrations remain open through the official marathon and Hindustan Zinc digital platforms until all race categories reach capacity.
