Zen Technologies Limited has received an arms manufacturing licence from the Government of India under the provisions of the Arms Act, 1959. The approval authorises the company to manufacture 12.7 mm, 23 mm, 30 mm, and 40 mm cannons, marking a significant expansion of its capabilities in the defence manufacturing space.

These weapon systems are widely used across air defence, naval operations, and Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (C-UAS) roles. Designed for rapid-fire engagement, the cannons are positioned as an effective last line of defence against evolving aerial threats such as drones, loitering munitions, and low-flying targets.

The licence strengthens Zen Technologies’ role in India’s push towards indigenous defence production, aligned with the country’s IDDM (Indigenously Designed, Developed, and Manufactured) framework. It enables the company to contribute to the development of cost-effective, locally manufactured defence systems tailored to modern battlefield requirements.

When integrated with advanced fire-control systems, radar networks, and electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensors, these cannons offer enhanced targeting precision and operational responsiveness. The addition of programmable ammunition further improves their effectiveness in neutralising complex threats while safeguarding critical assets such as military installations, border zones, and key infrastructure.

The development comes at a time when global conflicts are increasingly characterised by asymmetric warfare, with greater reliance on unmanned aerial systems. The capability to manufacture such systems domestically positions Zen Technologies to address these emerging challenges with solutions designed specifically for Indian operational conditions.

Zen Technologies has built a strong presence in defence training and anti-drone solutions, with a track record of delivering systems that enhance combat readiness. The company has developed a wide range of training platforms used by defence and security forces to simulate real-world scenarios and improve operational preparedness.

Headquartered in Hyderabad, the company operates a dedicated research and development facility recognised by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. With over three decades of experience, Zen Technologies has filed more than 200 patents and delivered over 10,000 systems globally.

The company continues to invest in expanding its portfolio to address evolving defence requirements. Its in-house manufacturing capabilities allow it to design and produce customised solutions for key government clients, including the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Home Affairs. The newly granted licence is expected to further strengthen Zen Technologies’ position in India’s defence ecosystem while supporting the broader objective of achieving self-reliance in critical military technologies.
