Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd announced that its Indian joint venture, Wipro Kawasaki Precision Machinery Pvt Ltd (WiproKPM), has delivered a total of 200,000 hydraulic pumps and motors to customers in India as of January 30. WiproKPM began operations in December 2012 as a partnership with Wipro Enterprises Private Limited to serve as a manufacturing, sales, and service centre for hydraulic systems in India.
The venture was formed to strengthen Kawasaki’s precision machinery business, which focuses on hydraulic components used in construction equipment. Since its launch, WiproKPM has concentrated on supplying domestic customers while increasing local sourcing and creating employment opportunities, building a strong presence in the Indian market.
Demand for hydraulic equipment in India has been rising along with the growth of the construction and infrastructure sectors. Customers have also shown increasing confidence in Kawasaki’s product quality and reliability. To meet rising demand, WiproKPM opened a new plant in 2019 and expanded production capacity, allowing the company to respond more quickly to changing customer requirements.
The company has also broadened its product range. It initially produced a single hydraulic excavator pump model, but now manufactures six types of excavator pumps, three types of excavator motors, and pumps for backhoe loaders and telehandlers. This wider portfolio has helped WiproKPM serve a broader range of construction machinery applications. Cumulative shipments reached 100,000 units in February 2023 and doubled to 200,000 units by January 2026, reflecting steady growth in demand and increased production capability.
Kawasaki plans to continue strengthening WiproKPM as a key manufacturing base in India, supporting local industry through technology transfer, employment, and high-quality production standards while expanding its operations in the region. Wipro Kawasaki Precision Machinery Private Limited is a joint venture between Wipro Infrastructure Engineering and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, established in 2012 to manufacture advanced hydraulic components for construction and industrial machinery.
The company mainly produces hydraulic pumps, motors, valves, and control systems used in excavators and other heavy equipment, helping power and regulate large machines efficiently. Headquartered in Bengaluru, India, it plays an important role in supporting original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with high-quality hydraulic solutions and has become a leading manufacturer in India’s excavator hydraulic pump market. With a strong focus on innovation, quality, and localization, Wipro Kawasaki combines Japanese technology with Indian manufacturing expertise to deliver reliable and efficient machinery components for both domestic and global markets.
