Veolia Opens APAC Emergency Response Hub in Delhi

Veolia Foundation has launched a Veoliaforce Hub in Delhi to serve as a regional emergency response base for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The facility will enable Veolia to pre-position emergency equipment and trained personnel in India, allowing faster deployment to areas affected by natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies.

The Delhi hub will function as both an operational and training centre for the region. It is equipped with mobile water treatment systems that can be transported and deployed in emergency conditions. The facility will also support rapid response operations aimed at providing safe drinking water within hours of reaching an affected location.

Certified Veolia teams will be trained to deploy Aquaforce mobile water treatment units. Each unit can provide drinking water for populations of between 2,000 and 7,500 people. The regional response model combines locally trained employees, pre-positioned equipment and Veolia’s expertise in water, sanitation and essential services.

The hub was launched following a week-long training and certification programme involving 25 Veolia employees from operations in Bengaluru, Noida, Gujarat, Karnataka and Nagpur. The volunteers participated in crisis simulations and practical exercises covering emergency response procedures and the deployment of mobile water treatment technology.

“Building environmental security and protecting essential services is an urgent priority across India and the APAC region. With this new Veoliaforce Hub in Delhi, we are putting people, equipment and expertise closer to where they may be needed, so that we can respond faster when a disaster strikes,” said Guillaume Dourdin, Chief Executive Officer, India, Veolia. He said India’s location, disaster-response capabilities and Veolia’s operational presence make the country a suitable base for coordinating emergency interventions across South and Southeast Asia.

The hub uses a competency-based volunteering programme that draws on employee expertise in water treatment, sanitation, logistics and environmental engineering. The trained specialists can be mobilised with Veolia Foundation emergency partners when required.

“Proximity and rapid deployment are essential to delivering effective support during emergency situations. The Delhi hub gives our employees a concrete framework to put their professional skills at the service of communities affected by crises,” said David Poinard, Executive Officer, Veolia Foundation.

The launch also brought together international emergency response partners, including the Red Cross, and local authorities to discuss response protocols and operational coordination. The initiative adds to Veolia’s existing activities in India, including Medical Mobile Units in Gujarat and social insertion programmes such as Life Project 4 Youth (LP4Y).

Veolia employs 215,000 people across five continents. In 2025, the group served 110 million people with drinking water and 97 million with sanitation, produced 45 million MWh of energy and treated 64 million tonnes of waste. It reported consolidated revenue of €44.4 billion in 2025.
