Vector Technics, a subsidiary of Zen Technologies, has announced that its integrated manufacturing facility at Shamshabad has achieved an annual production capacity of 300,000 drone propulsion units, marking a significant milestone in India’s unmanned aerial systems ecosystem. The company said it has established a fully integrated manufacturing platform capable of designing and producing the complete propulsion stack for drones within India, supporting the country’s drive towards self-reliance in critical defence and aerospace technologies.
The expanded facility manufactures a comprehensive range of propulsion systems, including brushless DC (BLDC) electric motors, internal combustion (IC) engines, electronic speed controllers, starter-generators, carbon-fibre reinforced propellers, power distribution boards and power electronics. All major components, from hardware and embedded firmware to precision-machined parts, are developed and produced in-house, enabling tighter quality control and reduced dependence on imported technologies.
The company noted that the achievement comes at a time when indigenous sourcing and supply chain security have become increasingly important for defence procurement and advanced aerospace applications. With domestic design, engineering and manufacturing capabilities, Vector Technics aims to provide propulsion systems that meet stringent operational and reliability standards required for military and industrial drone platforms.
Its portfolio includes BLDC motors designed for first-person-view (FPV) drones, tactical UAVs, heavy-lift cargo drones, long-endurance fixed-wing aircraft and VTOL platforms. The company also manufactures 60cc, 170cc and 210cc boxer engines for hybrid VTOL and fixed-wing unmanned aircraft, along with starter-generators that provide onboard power for extended-duration missions. Supporting products include indigenously developed electronic speed controllers, carbon-fibre propellers and advanced power management systems for payloads such as LiDAR sensors, cameras and flight controllers.
Commenting on the milestone, Prudhvi Raj Pakalapati, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Vector Technics, said, “Building a truly indigenous drone ecosystem requires complete control over the propulsion technology that powers every platform. Over the past several years, we have invested in developing every critical component in-house, from motors and engines to firmware and power electronics. This expanded manufacturing capacity positions us to meet growing domestic and international demand while strengthening India’s technological capabilities in unmanned aviation.”
Operating from its 26,000-square-foot integrated manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, Vector Technics serves more than 300 customers across over 10 countries. Backed by Zen Technologies, the company is focused on supplying high-performance propulsion solutions for defence, surveillance, agriculture, logistics and industrial drone applications, supporting India’s emergence as a global hub for advanced aerospace manufacturing.
