Valmet has completed the acquisition of Severn Group, significantly expanding its capabilities in severe-service flow control and strengthening its position in mission-critical valve and valve automation solutions for global process industries. With the completion of the transaction, Severn Group’s operations have been integrated into Valmet’s Flow Control business area, marking an important milestone in the company’s long-term growth strategy.
The acquisition includes Severn Group’s three business divisions—Severn Glocon, ValvTechnologies and LB Bentley. Originally announced on December 22, 2025, the transaction was valued at approximately US$480 million on a cash- and debt-free basis, equivalent to around €410 million based on exchange rates at the time of the announcement.
Severn Group reported net sales of approximately €215 million in 2025, supported by an EBITDA margin of about 16 percent. The acquisition enhances Valmet’s Process Performance Solutions segment, which contributes nearly half of the company’s profitability and serves customers across a wide range of industrial sectors.
The integration strengthens Valmet’s portfolio by expanding its expertise in severe-service flow control technologies used in demanding operating environments. It also broadens the company’s presence in industries such as refining, energy and metals, where highly reliable valve solutions are essential for ensuring safe and efficient operations.
Commenting on the completion of the acquisition, Thomas Hinnerskov, President and Chief Executive Officer of Valmet, said the transaction represents a significant step in delivering the company’s “Lead the Way” strategy. He noted that Severn Group adds access to new industrial markets, a substantial installed customer base with long-term aftermarket opportunities, and advanced severe-service flow control technologies that complement Valmet’s existing capabilities. Hinnerskov also welcomed nearly 950 employees joining Valmet as part of the acquisition, highlighting that their technical expertise and industry knowledge will further strengthen the company’s ability to deliver value throughout the entire customer lifecycle.
According to Simo Sääskilahti, Executive Vice President of Valmet’s Flow Control business area, the combination of Valmet’s valve technologies and Severn Group’s specialized application expertise creates a comprehensive offering for severe-service flow control applications. He added that the expanded portfolio is particularly well suited to the energy sector, where reliable flow control solutions play a vital role in maintaining operational continuity and supporting the supply of critical raw materials.
The combined capabilities will enable Valmet to better serve customers operating in complex industrial environments while supporting the transition toward more efficient, resilient and sustainable energy systems. The acquisition also enhances the company’s ability to deliver advanced lifecycle services, improve equipment reliability and provide comprehensive flow control solutions that meet the evolving needs of process industries worldwide. With the integration of Severn Group, Valmet further reinforces its position as a global provider of industrial process technologies and lifecycle services, while expanding its opportunities for long-term growth across strategic international markets.
