Valeo and Hero MotoCorp have entered into a strategic partnership to jointly develop Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) for motorcycles and scooters. The collaboration has been formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding and focuses on improving rider safety across Hero MotoCorp’s product range, including entry-level models, premium offerings, and electric vehicles under the VIDA brand.

The partnership brings together Valeo’s expertise in radar and camera-based sensing technologies with Hero MotoCorp’s two-wheeler platforms. The jointly developed ARAS solutions are designed to address real-world riding conditions such as dense urban traffic, mixed road usage, and the presence of vulnerable road users. The systems aim to reduce accidents by providing real-time alerts and situational awareness, acting as a digital support system for riders. Initial proof-of-concept solutions have already been developed, demonstrating protection for both riders and pedestrians.

The technology suite includes radar-based features such as Forward Collision Warning, Distance Warning, Lane Change Assist, Blind Spot Detection, and Rear Collision Warning. Camera-based systems support pedestrian detection, lane recognition, traffic sign identification, and lane departure alerts, with functionality maintained even in low-light conditions. Together, these systems form an integrated safety framework applicable to both conventional and electric two-wheelers. ARAS concepts from the partnership are being showcased at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, offering a preview of future rider safety solutions, including next-generation electric scooters.

Headquartered in New Delhi, India, Hero MotoCorp has maintained its position as the world’s largest motorcycle and scooter manufacturer for 24 consecutive years, with operations spanning 52 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America. The company also leads in electric mobility through VIDA, powered by Hero, and holds strategic collaborations with Harley-Davidson, Zero Motorcycles, Ather Energy, and Euler Motors. Its global operations are supported by eight manufacturing facilities and two state-of-the-art R&D centers in India and Germany. Hero MotoCorp is the only Indian two-wheeler company listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) and remains a strong advocate for sports worldwide through partnerships spanning golf, football, hockey, and motorsport.
