TRUMPF, a German high-tech company, has entered into a strategic partnership with Italian laser machine manufacturer Cutlite to expand its range of laser and tube cutting solutions. Under the agreement, TRUMPF will acquire the business of Cutlite Penta SpA from its ultimate parent company, El.En. SpA.

The partnership will strengthen TRUMPF’s capabilities in customised, large-format and high-power laser cutting, as well as oversized tube processing. Cutlite will continue to operate as an independent brand, maintaining its own manufacturing, sales and service facilities. The company will continue to develop and produce customised large-format cutting systems for customers.

The agreement gives TRUMPF access to Cutlite’s established manufacturing capabilities and experience in producing customer-specific machinery. The companies said the partnership will help expand the combined offering across the sheet metal processing industry and provide customers with a wider range of technologies for demanding cutting applications.

Cutlite has built a strong position in the European market through its focus on customised laser systems. Its expertise includes large-format machines designed for applications that require high cutting capacity and specialised configurations. Following the transaction, TRUMPF customers will gain access to Cutlite’s complementary products and services. At the same time, Cutlite customers will have greater access to TRUMPF’s technology portfolio and international network while continuing to receive Cutlite products and services through the existing brand and organisation.

Tom Schneider, Chief Technology Officer, TRUMPF Machine Tools, said the partnership brings together two companies with established expertise in specialised laser cutting applications. He said the cooperation will allow both organisations to expand their market presence, combine their strengths and further develop fibre laser cutting technology while maintaining established customer relationships and service quality.

Andrea Cangioli, Managing Director, El.En. SpA, said the agreement provides Cutlite Penta with new opportunities for growth while preserving its identity and industrial expertise. He added that combining Cutlite Penta’s experience with TRUMPF’s global network will support further development and innovation.

Cutlite has 34 years of experience in high-performance laser cutting systems and specialises in large-format machines built for specific customer requirements. Its portfolio includes very high-power laser systems ranging from 30 kW to 60 kW. These solutions are designed to provide an alternative to conventional plasma cutting, particularly in applications where higher productivity and precision are required.

Cutlite employs around 190 people and develops and manufactures its machines at its facility in Prato, Italy. The partnership is expected to strengthen both companies’ ability to serve customers across the sheet metal fabrication sector, combining Cutlite’s specialised engineering and manufacturing expertise with TRUMPF’s global technology and market presence.
