Teknor Apex Company, a family-owned global provider of plastics material science solutions, has publicly introduced TekVentures, its corporate venture and innovation arm focused on early-stage companies developing new technologies for materials and manufacturing. Established in 2023, TekVentures launched its dedicated investment programme in 2025 and has since invested in five early-stage companies. The initiative connects Teknor Apex’s technical expertise, manufacturing capabilities and industrial experience with founders developing new approaches to materials, production and industrial technology.

TekVentures primarily invests from pre-seed through Series A and focuses on companies working in next-generation materials, advanced manufacturing and industrial intelligence. Its current portfolio includes VERDE Biomaterials, which develops biomaterial technologies designed to replace conventional plastics, petrochemicals and other high-emission materials; Return to Vendor, which uses regenerated nylon and mono-material designs to develop recyclable clothing; and LignoSphere, which develops bio-based coatings and adhesives for high-volume industrial applications.

The portfolio also includes FirstShift, an AI-based supply chain software company focused on demand forecasting and inventory optimisation, and SensFlo, which provides manufacturers with real-time machine utilisation, downtime and production data. Several portfolio companies are already working with Teknor Apex through technical evaluations, application development, operational use and co-development programmes, connecting their technologies with the company’s manufacturing and technical capabilities.

Don Wiseman, Chief Executive Officer, Teknor Apex, said TekVentures creates a structured link between the company and founders developing new industrial technologies. He said the platform allows Teknor Apex to contribute technical expertise, manufacturing capabilities and market knowledge while helping emerging companies move their technologies towards commercial scale.

Abhijit Ganguly, Managing Director, TekVentures, said companies developing materials and manufacturing technologies face complex challenges, including lengthy development cycles, qualification requirements and the capital needed to scale physical technologies. He added that TekVentures combines an investment approach with practical industrial experience to support founders through these challenges.

TekVentures is focused on three areas: Next-Generation Materials, including new feedstocks, chemistry and recyclable materials; The Future of Manufacturing, covering automation, robotics and new production technologies; and Industrial Intelligence, including artificial intelligence, sensing, predictive analytics and supply chain technologies.

Beyond financial investment, TekVentures may provide portfolio companies with technical expertise, manufacturing knowledge, industry connections and opportunities for pilot projects or development programmes where there is a clear strategic fit. The company has also launched tek.ventures, a dedicated platform for founders, co-investors and industrial partners to explore the portfolio and connect with the TekVentures team.
