Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and ABB have signed a multi-million, multi-year agreement to modernise ABB’s global network operations through an AI-enabled digital infrastructure. The expanded engagement marks a new milestone in the companies’ two-decade partnership and is aimed at building a secure, standardised and intelligent network environment to support ABB’s global business.

Under the agreement, TCS will broaden its role from managing infrastructure and applications to delivering end-to-end global network operations through a Network-as-a-Service model. The programme is designed to improve user experience, strengthen security, enhance operational efficiency and support ABB’s long-term digital transformation strategy.

A key element of the engagement is ABB’s Future Network Model, an enterprise-wide initiative to transform its worldwide network into a centrally managed and standardised digital platform. As the strategic technology partner, TCS will design, integrate and manage ABB’s global network ecosystem while coordinating multiple technology vendors to ensure seamless operations across international locations.

The modernised framework will replace fragmented network environments with a scalable architecture that supports consistent service delivery. It will integrate service management, a global network operations centre, advanced cybersecurity capabilities and upgraded local area, wide area and software-defined wide area networks. TCS will also provide end-to-end monitoring and intelligent orchestration to improve network performance and reliability.

Alec Joannou, Group Chief Information Officer, ABB, said, “The Future Network Model is an important step in strengthening the digital backbone of our global operations. As our business continues to evolve, we need a secure, resilient and scalable network that supports our long-term business priorities. Our continued partnership with TCS reflects a shared commitment to operational excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.”

Anupam Singhal, President, Manufacturing, TCS, said, “Our relationship with ABB has grown over the past 20 years through several transformational initiatives. This engagement combines AI, secure digital infrastructure and our experience in managing complex enterprise environments to create a smarter and more resilient network. The new model will enable intelligent operations that improve performance, security, scalability and user experience while supporting ABB’s future growth.”

Over the past two decades, TCS has partnered with ABB on several strategic programmes, including the consolidation of multiple enterprise resource planning systems into a unified SAP platform and the acceleration of cloud transformation initiatives. The latest agreement further strengthens this long-standing collaboration by creating a future-ready digital network capable of supporting ABB’s global operations as the company continues to advance automation, electrification and sustainable industrial technologies.
