Synopsys, Inc, a global leader in engineering solutions, marked its 30th anniversary in India with the opening of a state-of-the-art research and development facility in Bengaluru. The inauguration ceremony at Bagmane Capital was attended by Synopsys President and CEO, Sassine Ghazi, and Synopsys Executive Chairman and Founder, Dr Aart de Geus.
The new Bengaluru facility covers more than 455,000 square feet and will focus on advanced research and development in areas such as Electronic Design Automation (EDA), semiconductor IP, verification, and system design. This move strengthens Synopsys’ ability to support both global and regional clients in developing next-generation technologies.
Sassine Ghazi spoke about the significance of the company’s growth in India, where Synopsys now operates in seven cities, including offices of recently acquired simulation and analysis giant, Ansys. “India has been an integral part of Synopsys’ success story for 30 years,” Ghazi remarked. “From our initial R&D center in Bengaluru to the extensive network of engineers and partners we have today, India remains a core hub for innovation and talent. As India builds its semiconductor industry, Synopsys is ready to provide the comprehensive design solutions needed to drive these innovations forward.”
Synopsys began its India journey in 1995 with an R&D center in Bengaluru, followed by a field organization in 1997. Today, nearly one-third of the company’s global workforce is based in India, with most employees working in engineering roles. Synopsys’ India teams have been at the forefront of breakthroughs in semiconductor manufacturing, automotive technology, AI, and next-generation computing, playing a key role in solving some of the industry’s most challenging problems.
Over the past three decades, Synopsys has become a crucial partner in advancing India’s technology and semiconductor sectors. The company works with more than 100 leading organizations, including semiconductor design centers, AI startups, and regional design and manufacturing firms, helping accelerate the development and delivery of innovative solutions.
The inauguration of the new facility coincides with Synopsys’ acquisition of Ansys, completed in July 2025. This strategic acquisition unites two leaders in silicon design, IP, simulation, and analysis, expanding Synopsys’ total addressable market to $31 billion. The integration enhances the company’s ability to provide cutting-edge engineering solutions for the AI-driven era, combining multiphysics simulation with the full EDA stack.
With Ansys’ predictive simulation capabilities now part of Synopsys, engineers across a variety of industries, including semiconductors, automotive, aerospace, and healthcare, can innovate faster, reduce time-to-market, and improve product performance. Synopsys expects to deliver its first set of combined solutions in the first half of 2026.
As India continues to strengthen its semiconductor industry, Synopsys remains a vital enabler of this progress. The opening of its new Bengaluru office reflects the company’s commitment to India as a global innovation hub and its dedication to integrating Ansys’ capabilities to transform the engineering process from silicon to systems.
Synopsys, Inc is a leader in trusted, comprehensive design solutions for silicon-to-systems, providing solutions for electronic design automation (EDA), silicon IP, and system verification and validation.
