STL, a global leader in optical and digital network solutions, showcased its Unitube Single Jacket Indoor Optical Fibre Cable with 4-core Multi-Core Fiber (MCF) at Connected Britain 2025. The innovation brings four cores within the same cladding diameter as standard single-mode fibre (SMF), maintaining a compact 250/200-micrometre coating size. STL is among the first globally to demonstrate MCF technology in real-world deployments across underground and duct networks with a complete ecosystem of fibres, cables, and termination solutions.

Building on these advancements, STL’s Unitube Indoor MCF cable is purpose-built for both performance and safety in critical indoor environments. Certified under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) EuroClass Cca-s2, d1, a1, it ensures high fire resistance, safeguarding data centres, commercial campuses, and other mission-critical indoor installations. The cable supports high-capacity data transfer while meeting stringent compliance standards. Complementary distribution and connectivity solutions further simplify integration with existing networks.

The Unitube Indoor MCF cable offers a significant leap in network security with its support for Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), providing tamper-evident encryption to safeguard sensitive data. This makes it ideal for applications where data protection is critical.

It delivers next-generation capacity, offering up to four times the throughput of traditional fibres. This high-performance capability is designed to support the growing demands of AI workloads, 5G infrastructure, and quantum-ready networks, ensuring future-proof connectivity.

Its compact design allows for high fibre density within smaller diameters, making it possible to scale up to 3,456 fibres without expanding the physical footprint. This space-saving feature is especially valuable for data centres and urban deployments.

Together, these advantages translate into stronger returns by creating a scalable and secure backbone that supports long-term digital growth, enabling businesses and service providers to meet rising data demands efficiently and cost-effectively. Dr Badri Gomatam, CTO of STL, said: “Through relentless innovation and global collaborations, STL is driving the adoption of advanced optical technologies. Our new Unitube Indoor MCF cable addresses the rising demand for secure, high-capacity, and future-proof networks. With our standardisation efforts and live deployments, we are proud to be at the forefront of evolving optical infrastructure for next-generation applications.”

STL continues to focus on building end-to-end solutions for high-capacity networks across 5G, fibre-to-the-home (FTTx), rural connectivity, and enterprise deployments. The expansion into advanced data centre products further reinforces its position as a key enabler of India’s and the world’s digital transformation. STL is a global provider of advanced connectivity solutions, offering end-to-end technologies for AI-ready infrastructure, FTTx, enterprise, rural, and data centre networks.
