The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) hosted the 7th SIAM CSR Conclave under the theme “CSR Partnerships – From Shared Vision to Shared Value,” bringing together leaders from industry, government, civil society, and development organisations to strengthen collaborative approaches to responsible growth and nation-building. The opening session, “CSR as National Development Catalyst – Building the Nation, Responsibly,” highlighted the automobile industry’s commitment to inclusive progress.

Welcoming participants, SIAM Executive Director Prashant K Banerjee emphasised that the sector’s nationwide presence offers meaningful opportunities to improve community well-being through health, sanitation, skills development, and education initiatives aligned with India’s long-term development goals.

Guest of Honour Dr Bhaskar Chatterjee, Director General and CEO of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, noted that CSR in India has evolved from charity into a structured governance practice. He called for stronger impact through technology-enabled monitoring, independent evaluation, and greater focus on sustainability priorities such as waste management, process improvement, and carbon reduction.

Puneet Anand, Chairman of the SIAM CSR & Community Services Group, said that India’s CSR framework has matured significantly, with thousands of companies contributing to social investment. He stressed the need to move beyond compliance toward measurable outcomes in employability, community resilience, and scalable district-level models through partnerships.

Speakers including CSR leaders from D S Group, Ashok Leyland, Maruti Suzuki, and Vaish & Associates Advocates shared practical insights on designing impactful initiatives. Closing remarks by Rajeev Taneja, Co-Chair of the SIAM CSR & Community Services Group, underscored that CSR must be driven by empathy, transparency, and alignment with national priorities to deliver lasting social change.

A thematic session on education and outreach explored CSR pillars such as environmental sustainability, road safety, healthcare, and skill development. Experts from Baker Hughes, Minda Group, Delhi School of Management, SM Sehgal Foundation, and the Indian Head Injury Foundation discussed approaches to scale community engagement.

A panel featuring NGO and corporate representatives examined successful collaboration models in CSR execution. The conclave also featured a fireside discussion on partnership-driven CSR and an awards ceremony recognising outstanding initiatives in skill development, healthcare, road safety, and environmental conservation.

SIAM continues to work with governments, companies, and stakeholders to advance cleaner mobility and social responsibility. Through its CSR programmes, the organisation aims to support India’s sustainable development priorities while strengthening communities across the country.
