Sagar Defence Engineering has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Andhra Pradesh for the proposed allotment of nearly 400 acres of land to establish a state-of-the-art defence manufacturing facility focused on advanced strategic and national security systems. The agreement was formalised during an official event held in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, highlighting the growing focus on strengthening India’s indigenous defence manufacturing ecosystem and strategic industrial capabilities.

The proposed facility is expected to become a major centre for advanced defence systems manufacturing and is aimed at supporting India’s long-term defence self-reliance objectives under the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The development is also expected to reinforce Andhra Pradesh’s position as an emerging hub for strategic manufacturing, aerospace technologies, and defence innovation.

Representing Sagar Defence Engineering during the MoU signing ceremony were Capt Nikunj Parashar, Founder and Chairman & Managing Director, along with Saurabh Patil, Head of Research and Development. The latest development follows the company’s recent receipt of an Industrial License for the manufacturing of explosives, marking a significant milestone in its expansion plans across the broader defence manufacturing sector. The company has been steadily strengthening its presence in autonomous systems, unmanned technologies, and integrated defence solutions catering to strategic and security applications.

According to the company, the proposed manufacturing ecosystem will focus on advanced defence technologies and critical systems designed for strategic operations across multiple domains. The facility is expected to support indigenous manufacturing capabilities while contributing to technology development, industrial infrastructure, and high-value engineering within India’s defence sector.

The project is also expected to generate substantial employment opportunities and support the growth of ancillary industries, supply chains, and technical service ecosystems within the region. In addition to manufacturing activities, the facility is likely to contribute toward research, innovation, and advanced engineering capabilities linked to future defence technologies.

Commenting on the development, Capt Nikunj Parashar stated that the partnership marks an important step toward strengthening India’s indigenous defence manufacturing ecosystem and building next-generation strategic capabilities aligned with the country’s self-reliance vision. He added that the proposed investment reflects the company’s long-term commitment to contributing toward India’s national security infrastructure and strategic technology capabilities.

Founded in 2015, Sagar Defence Engineering has emerged as a prominent player in India’s defence technology landscape through its focus on autonomous and unmanned systems across maritime, aerial, terrestrial, and sub-surface domains. The company was established by Capt Nikunj Parashar, Mridul Babbar, Lakshay Dang, Saurabh Patil, and Ankit Kumar with the objective of developing indigenous technologies capable of strengthening India’s security capabilities.
