Rockford Manufacturing Group (RMG) has acquired Shuster Mettler Corporation, including its assets, product lines, intellectual property and operations in New Haven, Connecticut. The acquisition is effective immediately, with sales, production and customer support for Shuster products moving to RMG and its global network of sales representatives and distributors. The acquisition adds Shuster’s wire-processing equipment to RMG’s existing range of wire straightening and cutting machines. The company said the combined portfolio would give customers access to a wider range of equipment through a single supplier.

Following the transaction, Shuster machine sales, manufacturing and support will be managed through RMG’s operations and distribution network. RMG expects the integration of Shuster’s activities into its vertically integrated manufacturing facilities to improve production efficiency and support product development, engineering, sales and after-sales service.

Larry Cunningham, President of RMG, said Shuster’s 150-year history and reputation in wire-processing equipment complemented the company’s existing business. He said the acquisition would help customers across global markets access a broader range of wire-processing solutions from one source.

With Shuster’s products added to its portfolio, RMG will offer straightening and cutting machines for carbon steel and specialty alloy wire, with diameters ranging from 0.015 inches to 1.250 inches. The acquisition follows earlier additions to RMG’s product range, including the GC Patterson line of straightening and cutting machines in 1993 and Lewis Machine in 2003. The company has also continued to invest in research and development to introduce new equipment and technologies.

Its developments include flying-shear straightening and cutting machines, quick-change wire relaxers for wire drawers, and Industry 4.0 data-monitoring systems with intelligent operator interfaces. These technologies are designed to address manufacturers’ requirements for higher throughput, improved uptime, reliable operation and ease of use.

Cunningham said the Shuster acquisition was part of RMG’s continuing efforts to respond to changing customer requirements. He also indicated that the company planned to announce further product developments ahead of Interwire 2027. The integration of Shuster’s product lines and operations is expected to broaden RMG’s reach in wire processing while allowing customers to access equipment, engineering and support through its established sales and distribution network.

Rockford Manufacturing Group supplies wire-processing machinery, including straightening and cutting equipment for a range of wire materials and diameters. Its product portfolio has expanded through acquisitions and research and development, with solutions designed to meet manufacturing requirements for productivity, reliability and operational efficiency.
