Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia’s new premium international airline, has confirmed an order for six additional Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, taking its total firm order for the widebody aircraft to 31. The latest agreement is part of Riyadh Air’s original commitment announced in 2025 for up to 50 A350-1000 aircraft. The airline is set to become the first carrier in Saudi Arabia to operate the A350-1000. The aircraft will support Riyadh Air’s international expansion and contribute to the Kingdom’s aviation development plans under Vision 2030.
Adam Boukadida, Chief Financial Officer of Riyadh Air, said the additional aircraft reflect the airline’s confidence in its growth plans and the expanding opportunities in Saudi Arabia’s aviation sector. He said the increased A350-1000 commitment will support the development of the airline’s future network and its target of serving more than 100 destinations worldwide by 2030. Riyadh Air plans to use the A350-1000 to expand its long-haul network while offering passengers a premium travel experience. The aircraft’s range and operating efficiency make it suitable for connecting Saudi Arabia with major international markets.
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President, Sales, Commercial Aircraft at Airbus, said the company was pleased to strengthen its partnership with Riyadh Air. He said the additional commitment demonstrates the airline’s confidence in the A350-1000 and its efficiency, range and passenger experience. The aircraft is expected to play an important role as Riyadh Air develops its international network.
The Airbus A350 is a new-generation widebody aircraft designed for long-haul operations. The A350-1000 can fly up to 9,700 nautical miles, or approximately 18,000 kilometres, without stopping. Its aerodynamic design, lightweight materials and latest-generation Rolls-Royce engines contribute to lower fuel consumption, operating costs and carbon dioxide emissions compared with previous-generation aircraft.
The aircraft features Airbus’ Airspace cabin, offering modern passenger amenities and a comfortable environment for long-distance travel. Its combination of range, efficiency and passenger comfort makes it suitable for airlines seeking to expand international operations while improving operational performance.
Riyadh Air’s growing A350-1000 fleet commitment forms part of its wider strategy to establish a major international airline based in Saudi Arabia. The carrier aims to connect Riyadh with destinations across key global markets while supporting the Kingdom’s ambition to become a leading international aviation hub.
As of the end of June 2026, the Airbus A350 family had secured 1,595 firm orders from 68 customers worldwide, underlining strong demand for the aircraft among international airlines. With 31 A350-1000 aircraft now firmly committed, Riyadh Air is strengthening the foundation of its future long-haul fleet and international network.
