Panasonic Industry Co, Ltd  today announced that it has earned certification under the internationally recognized IEC 62443-4-1 standard, reaffirming its commitment to secure product development for Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS). The certification applies to products developed by the company’s Industrial Device Business Division, underscoring its focus on delivering reliable and cyber-secure solutions for industrial applications.

The IEC 62443 series is a globally accepted framework for cybersecurity in industrial automation and control systems. Specifically, IEC 62443-4-1 establishes requirements for a secure product development lifecycle, covering security practices across product design, development, testing, maintenance, and lifecycle management. The certification was awarded following an independent assessment conducted by TÜV SÜD, which verified that Panasonic Industry’s security management processes meet the stringent requirements of the international standard.

The achievement comes at a time when manufacturers and infrastructure operators worldwide are accelerating the adoption of the Internet of Things (IoT) and digital transformation technologies. As industrial environments become increasingly connected, organizations face growing cybersecurity risks, including production disruptions, operational downtime, and data breaches. These evolving threats have heightened the need for robust cybersecurity measures throughout the lifecycle of industrial products.

In line with these developments, the European Union introduced the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) in December 2024. The regulation establishes mandatory cybersecurity requirements for products containing digital elements, requiring manufacturers to integrate security from the earliest stages of design and development while maintaining continuous vulnerability management and transparent security disclosures. The CRA is scheduled to become fully enforceable in 2027.

Supporting its preparedness for these regulatory requirements, Panasonic Industry has launched a dedicated section on its official website focused on product security. The portal provides customers with access to the company’s Product Security Policy, which outlines its approach to secure product development, as well as a Vulnerability Handling Policy that details the procedures for receiving, assessing, and responding to reported security vulnerabilities. In addition, the website includes Security Advisories and Vulnerability Information, offering updates on identified issues, remediation measures, and recommended actions for customers.

By aligning its development processes with internationally recognized cybersecurity standards and strengthening transparency in security communications, Panasonic Industry aims to help customers manage evolving cyber risks while maintaining safe and stable industrial operations.

Looking ahead, the company will continue enhancing its secure product development framework, expanding compliance with global cybersecurity regulations, and reinforcing its governance practices to ensure that customers worldwide receive industrial solutions that meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and cybersecurity resilience.
