MIC Electronics Limited, a key player in India’s technology and railway electronics sector, has received its first order from Indian Railways for its homegrown Microprocessor Controller designed for Roof Mounted AC Package Units (RMPU). This follows the product’s successful certification by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO). Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has placed the order for use in LHB passenger coaches, marking a major step in MIC’s expansion into advanced railway automation.
Developed and manufactured at MIC’s state-of-the-art Hyderabad facility, the controller meets RDSO/PE/SPEC/AC/0139-2009 (Rev.1) standards and supports the national goal of boosting indigenous, technology-driven railway systems. The microprocessor-based controller delivers accurate temperature regulation, intelligent compressor management, advanced diagnostics, and multiple protection features—ensuring greater passenger comfort, minimal downtime, and reliable operation in harsh climates. Its modular design and firmware-driven upgrades also enable easy maintenance and reduced lifecycle expenses.
This initial order is expected to pave the way for adoption across additional railway zones, backing Indian Railways’ shift toward modern LHB and double-decker AC coach fleets. As outlined in NFR’s Letter of Acceptance, delivery will take place within 45 days, followed by inspections, workshop-level integration, and performance trials on running coaches.
Commenting on the achievement, Rakshit Mathur, CEO of MIC Electronics Limited, said, “This order reflects confidence in our engineering strength. We remain committed to consistent product performance, reliable service support, and close coordination with Indian Railways throughout the deployment process. Our goal is to deliver solutions that enhance reliability and reduce long-term operational costs across the LHB network.” The system includes a 30-month warranty along with full on-site support during installation and commissioning.
MIC Electronics, known for Passenger Information Systems, Emergency Lighting Units, SMPS power solutions, and LED technologies, continues to enhance its capabilities in smart coach electronics, advanced control systems, and IoT-enabled monitoring. With this RMPU controller, the company is well-positioned to expand its presence in railway electronics as digitalization and comfort-focused upgrades gain momentum nationwide.
