MIC Electronics Limited, a prominent Indian company known for its digital passenger information and display technologies, has secured a ₹1.49 crore order from the South Central Railway’s Vijayawada Division to implement a modern Integrated Passenger Information System at the Annavaram (ANV) and Yelamanchili (YLM) railway stations. The initiative aims to transform the way real-time updates are delivered to travellers by deploying coordinated LED train display boards, audio-based announcement systems, digital clocks, and GPS-enabled information units that will help ensure fast, accurate and uniform communication across both stations.
Positioned on the busy Vijayawada–Visakhapatnam route, these stations handle substantial passenger movement, making reliable information flow a critical component of smooth operations and effective crowd management. The planned installation will operate on a fully IP-driven framework supported by optical fibre connectivity, enabling instantaneous data transmission, centralised supervision, and improved system resilience.
Manufactured domestically in alignment with the Make-in-India vision, the upgraded setup will include platform and station control units, integrated public announcement capability, enhanced network security provisions and energy-efficient display modules designed to meet long-term operational needs. Speaking about the development, Rakshit Mathur, CEO of MIC Electronics Limited, said that the company is pleased to contribute to the digital enhancement of ANV and YLM stations and reaffirmed MIC’s commitment to delivering advanced, homegrown technologies that strengthen the nation’s transportation systems. He added that the company looks forward to supporting Indian Railways’ overarching plans for creating safer, smarter and more digitally connected stations.
The contract stipulates completion within a 12-month period, followed by a three-year warranty and support term. Once deployed, the upgraded passenger information infrastructure is expected to cut down manual processes for railway staff, streamline station operations and significantly enhance the commuter experience. MIC Electronics already has a strong track record, having supplied passenger information and display systems to more than 200 stations across the country, and continues to expand its involvement in the digital modernisation efforts of Indian Railways.
