MIC Electronics Limited has been awarded a variation order valued at approximately ₹1.05 crore by the Nagpur Division of Central Railway, expanding the scope of its ongoing passenger information and telecom infrastructure project under the Amrit Bharat Scheme. Following this addition, the overall contract value has increased to ₹9.42 crore from the original ₹8.37 crore.

The variation order forms part of an existing contract for the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of passenger communication and telecom systems across seven railway stations in the Nagpur Division. The project includes Integrated Passenger Information Display Systems (IPIS), public address systems, networking infrastructure, and digital display solutions aimed at enhancing passenger communication and station modernisation.

The expanded scope reflects evolving project requirements and includes the addition of more display units, enhanced public address coverage, and expanded optical fibre, power, and data cabling to improve connectivity and system reach across station premises.

Under the revised scope, MIC Electronics will deploy managed Layer-2 PoE switches, additional optical fibre and shielded data cabling, upgraded public address amplifiers and speakers, line interface units, racks, jointing kits, and related networking hardware. These enhancements are expected to deliver broader display visibility, stronger audio coverage, improved redundancy, and higher overall system reliability, enabling clearer real-time information dissemination across platforms and concourse areas.

All upgrades continue to comply with RDSO and Indian Railways standards, including specifications for networking equipment, PA systems, UPS infrastructure, cabling, and associated civil works. Key improvements include gigabit-capable managed switches, high-capacity UPS systems with N+1 redundancy, and strengthened fibre and data networks designed for mission-critical passenger information applications.

The variation order highlights Central Railway’s confidence in MIC Electronics’ execution capabilities and reinforces the company’s role in upgrading passenger information systems under national railway modernisation programmes. It also enhances project economics while deepening MIC’s engagement with one of Indian Railways’ major zones.

Commenting on the development, Rakshit Mathur, Chief Executive Officer of MIC Electronics, said the order reflects the trust placed in the company’s integrated delivery approach. He noted that as stations under the Amrit Bharat Scheme evolve, there is a growing emphasis on scalable, networked digital infrastructure that improves passenger communication and operational reliability.

With the revised contract value of ₹9.42 crore, revenue from the project is expected to be recognised across FY25 and FY26 in line with execution milestones. The development strengthens MIC Electronics’ order book visibility and reinforces its position as a comprehensive integrator of IPIS, public address, telecom, networking, and digital display solutions for Indian Railways.

Looking ahead, MIC Electronics anticipates rising demand for fully digital, IP-based passenger information systems driven by initiatives such as Amrit Bharat Stations, Smart Stations, and Gati Shakti. With established credentials across multiple railway zones, the company expects similar scope expansions as railway stations nationwide continue to upgrade passenger-facing digital infrastructure.
