Manufacturing companies and job shop operators will have the opportunity to explore the latest developments in machining technology when Mazak hosts its two-day “Discover More with Mazak Midwest” event on May 5–6 at the Mazak Midwest Technology Center in Schaumburg, Illinois. The event will highlight a wide range of machining systems, automation solutions and production technologies designed to help job shops increase productivity and operational efficiency.

Participants attending the event will observe live machining demonstrations using a variety of Mazak equipment operating in real manufacturing scenarios. The demonstrations will focus on improving throughput, maintaining consistent quality and reducing setup times through integrated automation and advanced machining capabilities.

Mazak will showcase several categories of machine tools during the event, including Multi-Tasking systems, five-axis machining centers, horizontal and vertical machining centers, CNC turning platforms, Swiss-type production turning systems and hybrid additive manufacturing technology. Visitors will also have the opportunity to consult with Mazak application engineers and manufacturing specialists regarding production challenges and implementation strategies suited to their facilities.

Multi-Tasking technology will be one of the key areas of focus at the event. Featured machines will include the INTEGREX i-150, INTEGREX j-200S NEO, HQR-250MSY, QTE-200MSY and QRX-50MSY. These machines allow multiple machining processes to be completed within a single setup, helping manufacturers reduce handling time and improve overall efficiency.

The INTEGREX i-150 is designed specifically for machining small, square workpieces. Equipped with a six-inch chuck and compact footprint, the machine is suited for facilities seeking high-precision performance while maintaining efficient use of shop floor space.

Several other machines on display—including the INTEGREX j-200S NEO, HQR-250MSY, QTE-200MSY and QRX-50MSY—are built around Mazak’s DONE IN ONE® processing concept. This approach allows manufacturers to convert raw material into finished parts on a single machine without transferring the component between multiple systems. Features such as second turning spindles, milling capability and Y-axis movement allow multiple operations to be completed efficiently while maintaining dimensional accuracy.

The INTEGREX j-200S NEO is designed for high-productivity machining and incorporates a second spindle capable of precise phase alignment. This capability is particularly useful for components that require indexed machining. High-torque integral spindles allow effective material removal while maintaining accuracy, and the machine includes a larger tool magazine with front-side access and extended tool length capability to accommodate more demanding applications.

Mazak will also present its VARIAXIS i-700T full five-axis machining center. The system is designed to machine complex 3D components requiring multi-surface processing. With integrated turning functionality, the machine can reduce setup time, shorten production lead times and minimize fixture requirements.

Another system being demonstrated is the HCN-4000 NEO horizontal machining center. Built for high accuracy and productivity, the machine is suitable for both high-volume production and mixed-part manufacturing environments where flexibility is required.

For manufacturers producing high volumes of small, precision components, Mazak will demonstrate several SYNCREX Swiss-type turning machines, including the SYNCREX 38/9, 25/9X and 12/8. These machines are designed for high-speed, high-precision machining of small-diameter parts commonly used in industries such as medical, electronics and automotive manufacturing.

The company will also highlight its Kentucky-built Ez Series machines, including the VC-Ez 20X five-axis machining center, VC-Ez 26 and VC-Ez 32 vertical machining centers, and the QT-Ez 10MY CNC turning center. These machines combine compact machine footprints with simplified programming and quick setup features to help shops expand production capacity.

The event will also feature a demonstration of Mazak’s VC-500A/5X AM HWD HYBRID Multi-Tasking machine. This system integrates additive and subtractive manufacturing processes through Hot Wire Deposition technology, which deposits molten metal wire onto a base material to create near-net shapes. The same machine then performs finish machining, reducing setups, material waste and lead times.

All Mazak machines are supported through the company’s MPower Complete Customer Care program. In addition, Mazak Capital Equipment Financing provides factory-direct financing options designed to help manufacturers acquire new equipment and expand production capabilities.
