Larsen & Toubro’s Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) business has secured multiple engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) orders in India, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for power transmission and substation infrastructure. In Saudi Arabia, the business has received orders covering 380 kV transmission and substation projects. The projects are aimed at increasing transmission capacity and supporting the evacuation of power from renewable energy projects. The new infrastructure will also support the integration of renewable power into the country’s electricity grid.
In the United Arab Emirates, L&T’s PT&D business has secured an order for the construction of 132/11 kV substations along with associated cabling works. The project will involve the development of substation infrastructure and cable networks required for power distribution.
In India, the business has won an order from a leading private sector developer to establish a transmission system in Visakhapatnam. The project includes the construction of transmission lines and substations. The latest orders add to L&T PT&D’s portfolio of power infrastructure projects across domestic and international markets. The business provides EPC services for transmission and distribution networks and undertakes projects involving high-voltage transmission systems, substations, underground cable networks and distribution infrastructure.
Joji Sebastian, Executive Vice President & Head – PT&D, L&T, said, “These order wins demonstrate the breadth of PT&D’s engineering and execution capabilities and the ability to deliver complex power infrastructure solutions across geographies. With the growing demand for grid strengthening, renewable energy integration and associated infrastructure, we are leveraging our technology, project execution expertise and global presence to deliver value for our esteemed clients.”
The projects in Saudi Arabia will support the expansion of the country’s high-voltage transmission network while creating infrastructure for renewable energy evacuation. The 380 kV systems form part of the high-voltage network required to move electricity across transmission corridors and connect new generation capacity to the grid.
The UAE project will add substation and cabling capacity at the distribution level, while the Visakhapatnam project will strengthen the transmission infrastructure required to serve the region’s power requirements. L&T PT&D offers integrated services covering the design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of transmission lines and substations. Its portfolio also includes underground cable networks, distribution networks, power quality improvement projects and infrastructure electrification.
The business executes power transmission and distribution projects across multiple geographies, serving utilities, developers and other customers. The latest order wins reflect continued investment in transmission and distribution infrastructure as electricity demand rises and renewable energy capacity expands. Grid infrastructure is required to connect new generation assets, transfer electricity over long distances and improve the reliability of power supply. Through its current projects, L&T PT&D is participating in transmission and distribution infrastructure development in India and key international markets, including Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
