Hindustan Zinc Limited has recorded more than 50% year-on-year growth in transaction value on its digital commerce platform Vedanta Metal Bazaar (VMB) during the first half of FY27, reflecting increased adoption of digital procurement among businesses and MSMEs. The platform now enables customers across more than 500 cities in 23 states to access metal products, check prices and complete transactions digitally. Digital transactions on VMB also grew by more than 40% year-on-year during the first half of FY27.

Amarendu Prakash, CEO, Hindustan Zinc Limited, said, “India’s manufacturing growth will require not only reliable access to raw materials, but also smarter and more efficient ways of procuring them. Through Vedanta Metal Bazaar, we are leveraging digitalisation to make metal buying simpler, more transparent and accessible, particularly for MSMEs that are integral to India’s industrial growth. By combining the reliability of an integrated producer with the agility of digital commerce, we are making it progressively easier for customers to do business with us and building a more responsive, future-ready buying ecosystem.”

Launched in 2022, Vedanta Metal Bazaar is an online metal marketplace developed to simplify metal procurement. The platform provides customers with access to live prices, order placement, payments, invoicing, dispatch planning and shipment tracking. It also includes digitised ledger reconciliation to support account management.

VMB uses London Metal Exchange-linked pricing and provides Zinc Moolya and Lead Moolya, enabling market-linked INR price discovery for customers, including MSMEs and small-volume buyers. The platform is also being strengthened through technology integration and live-pricing capabilities, with plans to explore artificial intelligence-based features for a more personalised buying experience.

The digital platform is supported by Hindustan Zinc’s integrated mine-to-metal operations and product portfolio. The company offers LME-registered products including Special High-Grade Zinc, High-Grade Zinc, EcoZen low-carbon zinc, Prime Western Zinc, Continuous Galvanizing Grade Zinc, High-Grade Jumbo Zinc and die-casting alloys such as Alloy 3 and Alloy 5. Its portfolio also includes Special High-Grade Lead.

Hindustan Zinc supplies customers in more than 30 countries and has an approximately 74% share of India’s primary zinc market. Its products are supported by certifications and standards including Environmental Product Declaration verification, Bureau of Indian Standards certification and REACH compliance for exports to Europe.

Hindustan Zinc said the expansion of its digital commerce platform is aimed at improving access to metals and making procurement more transparent for customers across India. The company is also working to extend the platform’s capabilities to international customers.

Hindustan Zinc Limited, a Vedanta Group company, is the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and among the top 10 silver producers globally. The company has also launched EcoZen, a low-carbon zinc brand produced using renewable energy, and has set a target of achieving net zero emissions by 2050 or sooner.
