Larsen & Toubro’s Transportation Infrastructure business has secured two contracts from the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai for the development of the Latifa Bint Hamdan Corridor. The contracts cover the development of road infrastructure, bridges, tunnels, interchanges and associated works aimed at improving connectivity between major road corridors and development areas in Dubai. Both projects are scheduled for completion by the end of 2028.
The first contract covers the development of a new road connecting Al Khail Road with the extension of Latifa Bint Hamdan Street. The scope includes construction of bridges, tunnels and related road works. Once completed, the project will improve connections between Al Khail Road, Latifa Bint Hamdan Street and Al Meydan Street and provide improved access to nearby development areas.
The second contract involves the development of sections of Al Meydan Street, including a new interchange and associated at-grade roads. These works are intended to serve development projects in the area and improve traffic movement through the corridor.
The project also includes the construction of a cycling track that will connect with Dubai’s existing cycling network. The planned route will contribute to an integrated cycling connection extending from Al Qudra to Jumeirah.
The two contracts form part of the development of the wider Latifa Bint Hamdan Corridor, which will extend for approximately 12 km upon completion. The corridor will strengthen links between several of Dubai’s major road networks, including Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road, Al Meydan Street, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street and Emirates Road.
The completed corridor is expected to accommodate approximately 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions and more than 130,000 trips per day. The improved road connectivity is also expected to reduce travel time between Umm Al Sheif Street and Emirates Road from 33 minutes to 15 minutes.
The first project will create additional road connectivity between Al Khail Road and Latifa Bint Hamdan Street, while the second will improve access and traffic circulation around Al Meydan Street and surrounding development areas. The inclusion of cycling infrastructure is intended to connect the corridor with Dubai’s wider cycling network and provide an additional transport link between established cycling routes.
L&T’s Transportation Infrastructure business undertakes road and transport projects across domestic and international markets. The Dubai contracts add to the company’s portfolio of large-scale infrastructure projects in the region and involve the construction of multiple road structures and associated infrastructure. With both projects targeted for completion by the end of 2028, the works are expected to contribute to the development of Dubai’s road network and improve movement between key corridors and emerging development areas.
