KP Group has achieved a significant milestone in India’s renewable energy sector by becoming the first company to install the indigenously manufactured 4.2 MW wind turbine generator (4.2M160). The turbine, developed by Senvion India, represents a major step forward in the adoption of next-generation wind technology under the Make in India programme.

The installation has been completed in South Gujarat and forms part of Senvion’s advanced 4XM platform. Designed specifically for Indian wind conditions, the turbine is engineered to deliver enhanced efficiency and higher energy output, particularly in low-to-medium wind speed regions.

With a rated capacity of 4.2 MW, a rotor diameter of 160 metres, and a hub height of 140 metres, the 4.2M160 turbine is built to maximise energy capture. Its larger swept area, coupled with advanced control systems and site-specific optimisation, enables improved generation performance and long-term operational value. These features are expected to contribute to more efficient utilisation of wind resources across diverse geographies.

The 4XM platform incorporates a modular design that simplifies transportation and enables faster installation and commissioning. This architecture also enhances serviceability and reliability during operations, supporting reduced downtime and improved lifecycle performance. Manufactured in India with over 85 percent localisation, the platform aligns with the country’s focus on strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities. Its inclusion in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) in December 2025 further underscores its compliance with national standards.

Commenting on the development, Dr. Faruk Patel, Chairman and Managing Director of KP Group, stated that the installation reflects the company’s focus on deploying advanced technologies to improve efficiency and deliver sustained value. He added that the milestone reinforces KP Group’s role in driving scalable renewable energy solutions and supporting India’s transition toward cleaner energy sources.

Founded in 1994 by Dr Faruk G Patel, KP Group has evolved into a diversified conglomerate with a strong presence in renewable energy, infrastructure, and innovation. Over the years, the company has implemented a range of wind and solar energy projects, contributing to India’s sustainability goals and reducing carbon emissions.

With a growing portfolio of renewable assets, KP Group continues to expand its footprint while supporting organisations seeking to transition to cleaner energy. The installation of the 4.2M160 turbine marks another step in advancing India’s wind energy capabilities and setting new benchmarks for performance and efficiency in the sector.
