ABB India has reported a strong beginning to calendar year 2026, driven by robust order inflows, continued industrial demand, and strategic investments aimed at expanding manufacturing and research capabilities across critical infrastructure sectors. During the January–March 2026 quarter, the company recorded total orders of INR 4,280 crore, reflecting a 25 percent year-on-year increase. The order backlog also rose 17 percent, strengthening future revenue visibility across multiple industrial segments.

Revenue for the quarter increased six percent to INR 3,184 crore compared to the corresponding period last year. The company attributed the growth to sustained momentum across emerging and core industries, despite a cautious execution environment and selective delays in certain infrastructure projects.

Sanjeev Sharma Country Head and Managing Director, ABB India, said ABB India’s diversified business portfolio, strong technology capabilities, and customer-focused execution helped the company maintain steady growth amid evolving market conditions. He added that ABB India remains well-positioned to benefit from India’s next industrial capital expenditure cycle while continuing to focus on sustainability and operational resilience.

The quarter saw rising demand from sectors such as data centers, renewable energy, metro rail, smart cities, and industrial automation. Key project wins included electrification and auxiliary power systems for a major data center, propulsion systems for metro rail projects, smart power products for wind energy applications, and automation upgrades for utility infrastructure.

ABB India also secured orders related to low- and medium-voltage drives for the metals industry, motion products for solar inverter manufacturing, and electrification solutions for leading packaged food companies. Operationally, the company announced a USD 75 million investment to expand manufacturing and research and development operations across five locations in India. The investment will support growth in sectors including renewable energy, metro rail, and data center infrastructure.

Among the quarter’s milestones, ABB India dispatched its first locally manufactured wind power converter from its Nelamangala facility, marking progress in integrating Gamesa Electric’s wind technologies into its manufacturing ecosystem. The company also introduced the ARTU Formula family, a next-generation low-voltage switchgear platform designed for industrial and commercial applications.

ABB India completed a major automation and cybersecurity upgrade for BPCL’s 937-kilometre Vadinar–Bina crude pipeline using ABB Ability™ SCADAvantage technology. Additionally, ABB-supplied electrification and drive solutions became operational at the newly launched Noida International Airport.

Profit before tax for the quarter stood at INR 462 crore, while profit after tax reached INR 342 crore. Profitability was impacted by input cost pressures, foreign exchange volatility, lower-margin project execution, and supply chain complexities linked to geopolitical tensions in West Asia.

ABB India maintained a strong cash position of INR 6,042 crore at the close of Q1 CY2026 and continued to advance its sustainability agenda with significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and progress in renewable electricity adoption and water stewardship initiatives.
