Kutch Copper Limited (KCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Limited, has received London Metal Exchange (LME) registration for its ‘Adani Copper’ Grade A copper cathodes, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expansion into the global refined copper market. The certification enables Adani Copper cathodes to be delivered with warrants eligible for issuance against LME Copper futures contracts from July 10, 2026.
The LME registration recognises Kutch Copper’s manufacturing standards and responsible sourcing practices after meeting stringent international requirements covering product quality, chemical composition, dimensions, weight and supply chain compliance. The approval also positions Adani Copper among globally recognised brands accepted for delivery under the LME’s Good Delivery standards for Copper Grade A contracts.
The recognition is expected to enhance the international acceptance and marketability of Adani Copper products while strengthening the company’s presence in global metals trading. LME-listed copper can be stored in approved exchange warehouses and used as collateral for financing, improving liquidity and providing greater flexibility for customers and market participants.
Commenting on the achievement, Dr Vinay Prakash, Chief Executive Officer – Natural Resources, Adani Enterprises Limited, and Managing Director of Kutch Copper Limited, said, “Copper is the backbone of the global energy transition. Achieving LME brand status places Adani among the world’s leading copper producers and strengthens India’s role in building a resilient, responsible supply chain for this vital metal. Kutch Copper’s world-class infrastructure and ESG standards make this recognition both timely and well deserved. It will enhance the global acceptance of Adani Copper. Apart from reinforcing India’s growing stature in the international metals industry, the registration is a landmark step towards self-reliance in refined copper.”
The company said the approval reinforces India’s growing role in the global copper industry while supporting domestic production of refined copper, a critical raw material used in renewable energy systems, electric vehicles, power transmission infrastructure and industrial manufacturing.
Kutch Copper’s integrated smelting complex in Gujarat represents an investment of approximately US$1.2 billion and has an annual production capacity of 500,000 tonnes. The facility is among the world’s largest single-location custom copper smelters and incorporates advanced process automation, modern production technologies and sustainability-focused operating practices.
The commissioning of the facility is expected to strengthen India’s domestic copper supply, reduce dependence on imports and support the country’s manufacturing ambitions across sectors linked to electrification and clean energy. As demand for copper continues to rise globally, the LME registration provides Kutch Copper with greater access to international markets while reinforcing its commitment to producing high-quality refined copper that meets globally accepted industry standards.
