Jindal Stainless has received multiple honours at the 10th CII National Energy Efficiency Circle Competition 2026 for its efforts in improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions at its manufacturing facilities in Hisar, Haryana, and Jajpur, Odisha. The awards, presented by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) during the national competition held at India Habitat Centre in New Delhi on July 2 and 3, recognise organisations that have adopted innovative practices in energy conservation and sustainable manufacturing.

The Hisar unit received the National Award for Best Energy Efficient Case Study and the National Award for Best Case Study on Low Carbon/Carbon Neutral Initiative. The facility earned recognition for implementing several measures, including waste heat recovery systems, heater-less vaporisers, renewable energy integration, energy-efficient equipment upgrades and the use of green hydrogen.

Over the past four years, the Hisar plant has completed 112 energy efficiency projects. These initiatives have helped reduce greenhouse gas emissions by nearly 5.85 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent through improved energy management and greater use of renewable energy.

The Jajpur unit was honoured for its performance under the Bureau of Energy Efficiency’s Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT) and Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS). It also received recognition for the effective implementation of the ISO 50001 Energy Management System. The Jajpur facility introduced several energy-saving measures, including a Waste Heat Recovery Boiler, an advanced Melt Control System for Electric Arc Furnaces, optimisation of reheating furnaces, improvements in the chrome palletisation plant and increased use of renewable energy. Over the last four years, the unit has completed more than 100 energy conservation projects, resulting in a reduction of over 4.71 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions.

Managing Director Abhyuday Jindal said sustainability remains a key part of the company’s long-term growth strategy. He said the CII awards recognise Jindal Stainless’ continued investment in technologies that improve operational efficiency while reducing environmental impact. He added that the company will continue to support India’s transition towards a low-carbon economy through innovation and responsible manufacturing.

Vijay Bindlish, Unit Head of the Hisar plant, said the award reflects the team’s continued focus on improving energy efficiency and reducing emissions. Deepak Agrawal, Unit Head of the Jajpur facility, said energy conservation has become an integral part of daily operations through continuous technology upgrades and process improvements.

The latest recognition strengthens Jindal Stainless’ position as a leader in sustainable manufacturing. The company continues to expand its stainless steel production while working towards its long-term goal of achieving net-zero emissions through cleaner technologies, renewable energy and efficient manufacturing practices. With manufacturing facilities in India, Spain and Indonesia, Jindal Stainless remains committed to delivering high-quality stainless steel while supporting environmental sustainability and responsible industrial growth.

Jindal Stainless is India’s largest stainless steel manufacturer, with operations spanning multiple facilities in India and overseas markets.
