Jindal Stainless has successfully deployed SAP Ariba Supplier Risk with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) risk capabilities, strengthening its approach to responsible sourcing, supplier governance and supply chain resilience. The technology-enabled framework integrates ESG risk assessment and monitoring into the company’s broader Business ERP environment, providing procurement teams with greater visibility across the supplier lifecycle.

The deployment marks a step forward from periodic and largely manual supplier assessments towards a digital-first model with continuous monitoring of risk indicators. By incorporating ESG information directly into supplier profiles, the system enables procurement teams to identify emerging risks earlier, support more informed sourcing decisions and maintain structured, audit-ready information for governance and compliance requirements.

The platform brings together supplier risk classification, questionnaire-based ESG evaluation, risk scoring, continuous monitoring and centralised visibility for procurement stakeholders. These capabilities are integrated across key stages of the supplier lifecycle, including onboarding, sourcing and award-related decision-making.

“Digital transformation and sustainability have become critical pillars in building resilient and responsible businesses. At Jindal Stainless, we are using technology not only to strengthen operational efficiency, but also to embed greater transparency, accountability and environmental focus across our value chain,” said Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director, Jindal Stainless. “This approach brings together our digital and sustainability priorities to create stronger systems of governance and enable more informed, responsible business decisions.”

The system also provides suppliers with a centralised interface to share risk-related information, submit documentation and provide ongoing updates. As part of its responsible sourcing programme, Jindal Stainless will conduct supplier awareness and training workshops to help business partners understand ESG expectations, identify areas for improvement and develop corrective action plans based on their risk profiles. The initiative will also support MSME suppliers in strengthening their ESG preparedness as sustainability requirements continue to evolve.

“The future competitiveness of India’s industrial sector will increasingly depend on the resilience, transparency, and sustainability of its supply chains. Organizations that can effectively embed ESG considerations into operational decisions will be better positioned to navigate evolving stakeholder expectations and regulatory requirements,” said Manish Prasad, President and Managing Director, SAP Indian Subcontinent. “Jindal Stainless’ deployment of SAP Ariba Supplier Risk demonstrates how digital technologies can help enterprises transform supplier risk management from a periodic exercise into a continuous, intelligence-led process that drives long-term business value.” The initiative forms part of Jindal Stainless’ wider digital transformation and sustainability agenda, aimed at improving transparency and strengthening responsible sourcing across its procurement ecosystem.

Jindal Stainless recorded an annual turnover of INR 42,955 crore (USD 4.86 billion) in FY26 and has an annual melt capacity of 4.2 million tonnes.
