Infineon Technologies AG has acquired C2i Semiconductors, a Bengaluru-based technology company specialising in software-defined multiphase controllers and smart power stages for artificial intelligence data centres. The acquisition strengthens Infineon’s portfolio of power solutions for AI data centres and expands its engineering capabilities in India. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of calendar year 2026.

C2i Semiconductors develops technologies designed to improve power delivery for AI servers and high-performance computing systems. Its solutions complement Infineon’s existing portfolio of power semiconductors and systems, enabling intelligent power architectures across the complete power path from the grid to the processor.

The acquisition comes as AI processors become increasingly powerful and data centres face rapidly changing power requirements. Modern AI workloads can create sudden fluctuations in power demand, requiring power delivery systems that can respond quickly while maintaining efficiency and stability.

Software-defined power solutions combine power semiconductor technology with digital controls and software algorithms. These systems can adjust power conversion and regulation in real time, helping improve efficiency and manage the increasing power density of next-generation AI processors.

Adam White, President of Infineon’s Power Systems division, said the acquisition would strengthen the company’s AI data centre business while creating a new centre of excellence for digital power technologies in India. “C2i Semiconductors brings exceptional expertise in software-defined power management and system-level power architectures,” Mr White said. “With this acquisition, we will accelerate innovation in power delivery solutions for AI data centres and expand our capabilities in next-generation vertical power delivery architectures.”

C2i Semiconductors was founded to develop intelligent power delivery technologies for emerging computing applications. Ram Anant, Founder and CEO of C2i Semiconductors, said joining Infineon would provide access to semiconductor technologies, manufacturing capabilities and global customer relationships.

The combined capabilities will bring together C2i’s digital power expertise with Infineon’s semiconductor portfolio, application knowledge and global presence. Infineon’s technologies include silicon, silicon carbide and gallium nitride power semiconductors, as well as vertical power delivery solutions. The companies will also work on future power architectures, including technologies aimed at supporting Substrate Integrated Voltage Regulators.

The acquisition further expands Infineon’s R&D capabilities in India, which is an important part of the company’s global technology network. Infineon currently employs approximately 2,800 people in India, where the semiconductor ecosystem continues to grow. The transaction is expected to help Infineon respond to the rising demand for efficient and intelligent power systems as AI infrastructure expands worldwide.

Infineon Technologies AG is a global semiconductor company focused on power systems and the Internet of Things. The company develops products and solutions supporting digitalisation and decarbonisation and employs around 57,000 people worldwide. In fiscal 2025, Infineon reported revenue of approximately €14.7 billion.
