Himadri Speciality Chemical Ltd a leading manufacturer of speciality chemicals and advanced carbon materials, has increased its investment in International Battery Company, Inc (IBC), further deepening its presence in the rapidly expanding global battery ecosystem. The company has made an additional investment of USD 0.66 million in IBC, a US.-based developer and manufacturer of prismatic lithium-ion battery cells. Following this transaction, Himadri’s shareholding in IBC has risen from 17.29% to 20.47% on a fully diluted basis, reinforcing its long-term commitment to advanced battery technologies and sustainable energy solutions.

The latest investment builds on the strategic relationship established between the two companies and reflects confidence in IBC’s technology platform, manufacturing capabilities, and commercialization plans. Over the past year, both organizations have worked closely to advance battery material development and create pathways for large-scale deployment across mobility and energy storage applications.

The partnership provides Himadri with access to IBC’s battery technology expertise, research and development operations in California, manufacturing facilities in South Korea, and its upcoming battery manufacturing plant in Bengaluru, India. These capabilities are expected to accelerate the adoption of Himadri’s battery material portfolio, including Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) cathode active materials and advanced anode materials.

The collaboration also supports Himadri’s strategy of expanding its role across the battery value chain. By integrating its materials expertise with IBC’s cell development and manufacturing strengths, the company aims to shorten development cycles and accelerate commercialization opportunities in high-growth energy storage markets.

Commenting on the development, Anurag Choudhary, Chairman, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Himadri Speciality Chemical Ltd, said the decision to increase the investment was driven by the significant progress achieved through the partnership. He noted that successful material validation programs, continued advancement of next-generation battery technologies, and growing commercial opportunities have strengthened the strategic value of the collaboration. He added that combining advanced material science with battery innovation creates a strong foundation for delivering reliable, high-performance energy storage solutions for future mobility and renewable energy applications.

As global demand for electric mobility and energy storage continues to rise, the expanded partnership positions both companies to capitalize on emerging opportunities in battery manufacturing and technology development. The strengthened alliance is expected to support the development of scalable, efficient, and sustainable battery solutions while contributing to the broader transition toward cleaner energy systems worldwide.
