HGS (listed on BSE & NSE), a global provider of digital experience, business process management (BPM), and digital media services, has announced the launch of AMLens, a new AI-driven solution built to improve the speed and effectiveness of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) operations at financial institutions. AMLens is designed to help banks and financial services organizations manage growing alert volumes, reduce false positives, and meet regulatory requirements more efficiently. The platform uses machine learning and natural language processing to shorten investigation cycles, improve accuracy, and support analysts throughout the AML workflow.
Rather than functioning as a rigid system, AMLens is built as an adaptive framework that evolves with changing regulations and risk patterns. It addresses long-standing challenges such as manual case handling, alert overload, and fragmented data sources by bringing detection, triage, context building, and reporting into a single, integrated environment.
The solution consolidates data from multiple sources—including transaction records, investigator notes, and external databases such as Google, LexisNexis, and other public records—into one unified view. This allows analysts to review cases faster and with greater clarity. AMLens follows a modular, API-first architecture, making it easy to integrate with existing AML and compliance systems. It is suited for use across Retail and Consumer Banking, Payments and Fintech, Credit Cards and Lending, and Wealth Management.
“In a highly regulated environment, speed and accuracy are critical in fighting financial crime,” said Eric Purdum, Head of Sales – Americas at HGS. “Many legacy platforms overwhelm investigators with unnecessary alerts and disconnected data. AMLens helps cut through that noise by automating repetitive tasks such as transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and customer due diligence, while keeping analysts in control of key decisions. The result is faster investigations, clearer insights, and greater confidence in outcomes.”
Early client deployments of AMLens have shown measurable improvements. Case review time has been reduced by approximately 75%, from nearly two hours to about 30 minutes. False positives have dropped by more than 60%, declining from roughly 18% to 7%. Investigator productivity has increased threefold, enabling teams to handle up to 24 cases per day instead of eight. Overall case turnaround time has improved from 48 hours to just 12 hours.
AMLens is designed with a human-in-the-loop framework, ensuring that automated insights are always reviewed and validated by experienced analysts. The platform supports decision-making without replacing human judgment, helping compliance teams maintain accountability and regulatory confidence while working more efficiently.
When a third-party monitoring system flags an account for activity such as rapid international wire transfers, AMLens initiates a structured and transparent workflow. The alert is first ingested into the platform and evaluated using its risk scoring engine, which assigns an initial risk level based on transaction behavior and available data.
Investigators can then enrich the case by requesting and reviewing additional information within the same workspace. Once sufficient context is gathered, the case may be escalated with AI-assisted narrative support for Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), while the final assessment and submission decision remains firmly in the hands of the analyst. This approach helps complete investigations in under an hour, without compromising regulatory rigor or oversight.
