HCLTech has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Odisha to establish a Global Technology Center in Bhubaneswar, marking a significant expansion of the company’s presence in India. The new facility will serve as a strategic hub for developing and delivering artificial intelligence-led digital solutions for global enterprises while strengthening Odisha’s position as an emerging technology destination.

The proposed center will accommodate approximately 5,000 professionals and is expected to become operational by 2028. It will work alongside HCLTech’s planned AI Data Center in the upcoming Odisha Sovereign AI Park, creating an integrated ecosystem focused on advanced digital technologies, innovation, and enterprise solutions.

The investment is expected to generate substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities while contributing to the development of the state’s technology ecosystem. In addition to creating jobs, HCLTech plans to collaborate with educational institutions and government agencies to enhance workforce readiness through skill development initiatives focused on emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, digital engineering, and other next-generation capabilities.

Rahul Singh, Chief Operating Officer – Corporate Functions, HCLTech, said the company continues to expand its operations across India through its New Vistas initiative, which aims to create technology opportunities closer to emerging talent pools. He noted that Odisha offers a strong combination of skilled professionals, educational institutions, and quality infrastructure, making Bhubaneswar an ideal location for the company’s next global innovation and delivery hub.

Welcoming the announcement, Vishal Kumar Dev, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Odisha, said the investment represents an important milestone in the state’s efforts to strengthen its information technology sector. He added that HCLTech’s presence will further enhance Bhubaneswar’s reputation as one of India’s fastest-growing technology and innovation centers while creating new opportunities for local talent.

The Global Technology Center is expected to support digital transformation programs for customers across multiple industries by leveraging advanced technologies and collaborative innovation. The facility will also contribute to Odisha’s broader vision of attracting high-value technology investments and fostering a knowledge-driven economy.
