Godrej Enterprises Group has strengthened its advanced tooling capabilities to support the growing needs of India’s automotive manufacturing industry, reinforcing its commitment to indigenous manufacturing, localisation and next-generation engineering. The company’s Tooling business is enhancing its technological capabilities to meet the evolving requirements of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier-1 suppliers across passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, two-wheelers and electric vehicle platforms.

With more than 85 per cent of its tooling business serving the automotive sector, the company has emerged as a trusted partner for manufacturers seeking high-precision tooling solutions. Today, nearly 95 per cent of the tooling supplied to its automotive customers is produced within India, highlighting the growing strength of the country’s domestic tooling ecosystem and reducing dependence on imported solutions.

The expansion comes at a time when government initiatives such as the Make in India programme and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme are encouraging manufacturers to increase local sourcing and build resilient supply chains. These initiatives, coupled with rising investments in advanced manufacturing, are creating significant opportunities for India’s tooling industry.

Godrej Enterprises Group offers a comprehensive portfolio of tooling solutions, including press tools, die-casting dies and precision tooling systems designed to improve manufacturing efficiency, enhance product quality and increase production productivity. In addition to the automotive industry, the Tooling business serves sectors such as industrial machinery, railways, metro rail projects and defence manufacturing, supporting India’s broader industrial growth.

Commenting on the development, Pankaj Abhyankar, Business Head – Tooling, Godrej Enterprises Group, said India’s automotive industry is undergoing rapid transformation with increased localisation, changing mobility technologies and the adoption of advanced manufacturing practices. He noted that as vehicle designs become more sophisticated, precision tooling has become critical for improving quality, reducing development timelines and enhancing manufacturing efficiency. He added that the company’s continued investment in engineering and manufacturing capabilities will help customers meet future industry requirements while contributing to India’s manufacturing ambitions.

To address emerging market demands, the company is expanding the use of advanced technologies, including digital simulation, additive manufacturing, Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled monitoring systems and large-tonnage die manufacturing. It is also deploying specialised technologies such as vacuum-assisted systems, thermo-regulation solutions, squeeze casting and conformal cooling techniques to deliver improved product quality, operational efficiency and production performance.
