GAIL (India) Limited has entered into a long-term charter party agreement with Alpha Gas for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier Energy Fidelity, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening India’s energy logistics and maritime capabilities. The agreement has been executed with Pantheon Maritime Services Private Limited, a Singapore-based affiliate of Alpha Gas.
The signing ceremony took place at Alpha Gas headquarters in Athens, where Shri S. Bairagi, Executive Director (Marketing – Shipping & International LNG) at GAIL, and Ms. Anna Angelicoussis, Owner of Alpha Gas, formalized the partnership.
The LNG carrier Energy Fidelity features a cargo capacity of 174,000 cubic meters and is equipped with a modern two-stroke propulsion system. The vessel also incorporates advanced air lubrication technology along with shaft generators, enabling improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions. These features align with global efforts to adopt cleaner and more sustainable maritime operations.
This agreement represents an important step for GAIL as it advances its long-term strategy under the ‘Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047’. The addition of this vessel is expected to enhance the company’s LNG shipping capacity, ensuring reliable transportation and supply of natural gas to meet India’s growing energy needs.
