Gabriel India, a leading automotive component manufacturer, has announced a joint venture with South Korea’s SK Enmove to broaden its offerings by entering the lubricants and engine oils segment. This collaboration marks a major shift for Gabriel India as it moves beyond its established expertise in ride control systems to become a more comprehensive player in the automotive components space.
The company aims to tap into India’s rapidly expanding lubricants and EV fluids market, currently valued at around ₹40,000 crore and poised for steady growth amid increasing vehicle and electric vehicle adoption. The new venture, named SK Enmove Gabriel India, will see SK Enmove hold a 51% stake, while Gabriel India will own 49%.
“Gabriel India is entering a new phase—from being a suspension specialist to becoming a broader automotive solutions provider with a diverse product range across the mobility landscape,” said Anjali Singh, Executive Chairperson of the Anand Group, which owns Gabriel India.
SK Enmove CEO Kim Wone-kee expressed confidence in the venture’s success, stating that the partnership with the Anand Group will enable SK Enmove to become a prominent player in the Indian lubricant sector.
SK Enmove, a subsidiary of SK Innovation, is a South Korean company that specializes in the production of premium base oils, advanced lubricants and cutting-edge thermal-management fluids. Originally established as part of the lubricant business in the 1960s and having operated under the name SK Lubricants, the company rebranded to SK Enmove in December 2022, reflecting its intention to evolve into an “Energy Saving Company”.
Gabriel India, a key company within the $2.2 billion ANAND Group, manufactures ride control products for a wide range of vehicles including two-wheelers, passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and railway systems. The company continues to grow its presence in the electric mobility sector.
