Chartered Speed Limited, a passenger mobility services provider, and EKA Mobility, an automotive and technology company focused on electric commercial vehicles, have received the Letter of Confirmation of Quantity (LOCQ) for the deployment of 1,750 electric buses in Bengaluru under the Government of India’s PM E-Drive Scheme.

This allocation accounts for nearly 39% of Bengaluru’s total planned induction of 4,500 electric buses under PM E-Drive, highlighting the scale of the deployment. Bengaluru continues to expand electric public transport adoption through the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation, supporting Karnataka’s clean mobility ambitions and the Government of India’s decarbonisation strategy.

Chartered Speed stated that safety remains central to its EV operations, supported by defined safety practices including preventive maintenance schedules, battery health monitoring systems and dedicated driver training programmes to ensure dependable services. Through this collaboration, Chartered Speed’s operational experience will be combined with EKA Mobility’s vehicle technology and manufacturing capability to strengthen access to reliable and commuter-oriented electric transport services in Bengaluru.

Sanyam Gandhi, Whole-Time Director, Chartered Speed Limited, said Bengaluru is among India’s most important mobility markets and that electric buses are a key element of efforts to improve urban air quality and strengthen mass transit efficiency. He said the PM E-Drive allocation reinforces the company’s long-term commitment to sustainable transport and added that Chartered Speed plans to convert around 25% of its fleet to electric by fiscal 2027, supported by infrastructure investments aimed at improving commuter experience and creating longer-term socio-economic benefits.

Rohit Srivastava, Business Head and Chief Growth Officer, EKA Mobility, said PM E-Drive is accelerating India’s electric mobility transition and that Bengaluru’s large-scale adoption of electric buses represents a strong example of how cities can transform public transport systems. He added that the partnership is focused not only on scale, but on creating cleaner and quieter mobility with improved commuting outcomes for residents.

Earlier in 2025, Chartered Speed was awarded deployment of over 1,000 electric buses under the Government of India’s Pradhan Mantri e-Bus Sewa Scheme, further strengthening its presence in India’s public transport electrification initiatives. Founded in 2010, Chartered Speed has over 14 years of experience in providing transport solutions across government (B2G), consumer (B2C), and business (B2B) sectors. The company continues to strengthen its footprint in sustainable mobility by offering reliable, future-focused transportation services across the country.
