Bry-Air, the flagship company of the Pahwa Group, held its 16th Biannual Eye Camp on 30 November 2025 at Mathra Das Civil Eye Hospital in Moga, Punjab. Organized in collaboration with local NGO Bhartiya Jagriti Manch, the initiative reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to providing essential eye care services to rural communities, particularly those affected by cataract-related vision issues.
The camp was inaugurated by Sanjeev Saini, Chief Patron of Bhartiya Jagriti Manch, Moga, and attended by prominent guests including noted social worker Indu Puri and Dr Deepek Kochhar, Chief Founder of Bhartiya Jagriti Manch, along with several other dignitaries. Recognizing the high prevalence of untreated eye conditions in rural areas, Bry-Air continues to expand its efforts to make quality eye treatment accessible.
This year’s camp drew 581 people from nearby villages such as Singhawala, Mothawala, Bukkanwala, Ghalla Kalan, Dunneke, Rattian, Bughipura, Dalla, Dhurkot Kalan, Mehna, Chughwan, Rauli, Talwandi, Dasain, Fatehgarh, Jalalabad, Landheke, Dhalleke, Lohara, Janer, Dosanjh and Khosa Pando, among many others. During examinations, 93 individuals were identified for cataract surgery. To support their recovery and vision improvement, more than 771 medicines and 300 spectacles were distributed free of cost.
Bry-Air continues to honour the legacy of Rai Bahadur Dr Mathra Das Pahwa—renowned eye surgeon and philanthropist—through these recurring camps and other social initiatives. The venue itself, Mathra Das Civil Hospital, was founded by Dr. Pahwa and continues to serve the community in his name. Over his lifetime, Dr. Pahwa performed more than five lakh surgeries, at one point achieving an extraordinary record of 750 operations in a single day. His pioneering work earned him multiple honours, including the Padma Shri (1954), the title of Rai Bahadur (1921), and Kesari Hind Gold (1924) and Silver Medals (1912).
To date, 15 previous camps in Moga have delivered significant impact, offering over 10,725 OPD consultations, conducting 1,289 cataract surgeries, and distributing 4,366 spectacles and more than 15,694 medicines. Across Delhi NCR and Moga combined, Bry-Air has now organized 130 eye camps, supporting 45,775 OPD cases, 3,941 cataract surgeries, and distributing 28,179 spectacles and 36,793 medicines.
