ABB India Introduces Advanced Machinery Drive with Enhanced Connectivity and Strong Cybersecurity

Manufacturing-News

ABB India has rolled out the ACS380-E, a next-generation machinery drive designed to meet the needs of automation-focused machine builders. As Indian manufacturing accelerates its adoption of digital technologies and Industry 4.0 practices, the new drive aims to simplify machine integration, boost performance, and support future compliance requirements across industrial environments.

According to AR Madhusudan, President and Local Division Manager, Drive Products, ABB India, the country’s evolving automation landscape demands robust, energy-efficient, and adaptable drives. He noted that the ACS380-E equips customers with a high-performance, secure solution capable of meeting current and emerging regulatory expectations while supporting a wide range of industrial applications.

Purpose-built for machinery in sectors such as textiles, plastics, wire and cable, and intralogistics, the ACS380-E reduces commissioning and installation time through streamlined wiring, built-in dual Ethernet ports, and multiple selectable communication protocols included as standard. USB-C commissioning and Ethernet-based firmware updates make it easier to configure and maintain, ensuring long-term cybersecurity readiness.

The drive supports all major rotary motor types across 100–600V ranges and integrates smoothly with leading automation systems, including ABB’s AC500 PLC. Compact in design, the ACS380-E is engineered for tight cabinet spaces and offers flexible installation options. Its compatibility with ABB’s Drive Composer software—including the upcoming Drive Composer 3—enables more efficient monitoring, diagnostics, adaptive programming, and offline configuration. In India, the new drive is available up to 22 kW, 400V and was officially introduced at ENGIMACH 2025 in Gandhinagar.
