Bondada Engineering Limited has secured a major Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract from NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) for the development of a 250 MW Solar Photovoltaic project integrated with a 50 MW / 200 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh. The award, valued at approximately ₹1,338 crore including GST, strengthens the company’s position in India’s rapidly growing renewable energy sector and significantly enhances its project pipeline.

The project will be executed within 18 months from the receipt of the Notification of Award and forms part of NTPC REL’s ongoing efforts to expand utility-scale renewable energy generation while incorporating advanced energy storage infrastructure. The integration of battery storage with solar generation reflects the increasing emphasis on delivering reliable and dispatchable clean energy solutions that support grid stability and round-the-clock power availability.

The latest contract represents a significant milestone for Bondada Engineering and highlights its growing role in the country’s renewable energy transition. Over the years, the company has built a strong track record in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects across multiple sectors, with renewable energy emerging as a key growth area.

The Sitapur project will involve the complete EPC scope, including engineering design, procurement of equipment, construction, testing and commissioning of both the solar power facility and the battery energy storage system. Once operational, the project will contribute to strengthening renewable energy capacity while supporting efforts to improve energy reliability through integrated storage solutions.

Commenting on the development, Dr. Bondada Raghavendra Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of Bondada Group, said, “This award from NTPC Renewable Energy Limited is a reflection of the confidence placed in our engineering expertise, execution capabilities and commitment to quality. The combination of solar generation and energy storage is becoming increasingly important as India expands its clean energy infrastructure. We are fully committed to delivering this project efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.”

With the addition of this contract, Bondada Engineering’s solar EPC order book has grown to approximately 5.5 GWp, while its battery energy storage portfolio has expanded to around 1.1 GWh. These order inflows provide substantial revenue visibility and strengthen the company’s long-term growth outlook.

India’s renewable energy sector continues to witness significant investments driven by ambitious national clean energy targets and increasing demand for sustainable power solutions. Battery energy storage systems are expected to play a crucial role in enabling greater integration of renewable energy sources into the grid.

The project further enhances Bondada Engineering’s credentials in both solar EPC and energy storage infrastructure, positioning the company to capitalize on emerging opportunities in the renewable energy value chain. As the nation advances toward a cleaner energy future, Bondada Engineering remains focused on delivering infrastructure solutions that support sustainable economic growth and energy security.
