Zelio E-Mobility has unveiled its latest electric three-wheeler, the Tanga Nine+, at RideAsia EV Expo 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The company said the commercial launch of the new model is expected during the second quarter of the current financial year.
The Tanga Nine+ represents a significant advancement over the earlier Tanga Nine and has been developed to meet the changing requirements of last-mile passenger transport in urban and semi-urban markets. The vehicle focuses on higher safety, improved passenger capacity and stronger earning potential for operators.
One of the major highlights of the new model is the introduction of an Autosafe front design, replacing the conventional open or mirror-front layouts commonly seen in three-wheelers. This design aims to improve protection for passengers while giving drivers greater confidence during daily operations in busy traffic conditions.
The new vehicle also offers seating for up to eight passengers, compared with five seats in the previous version. The larger capacity is expected to improve route efficiency and revenue opportunities for operators involved in shared mobility services, including intra-city transport, short-distance connectivity and high-frequency passenger routes.
Built for dependable everyday use, the Tanga Nine+ delivers a top speed of 45 to 50 kmph and offers a driving range of up to 150 kilometres on a single charge. The model is powered by a 2.5 kW motor using BLDC or PMSM technology. Customers will be able to choose from multiple battery options, including 7.8 kWh and 10 kWh packs, allowing flexibility based on operating needs.
The vehicle has also been designed with rider and passenger comfort in mind. It offers 670 mm leg space, a gross vehicle weight of 900 kg, and tyre and rim sizes of 3.75×1 and 4.00×12. A combi braking system with drum brakes at both front and rear supports balanced and controlled braking performance. Charging options of 25A and 45A provide added convenience across different usage environments.
Kunal Arya, Managing Director of Zelio E-Mobility, said India’s last-mile mobility segment is changing rapidly, creating demand for vehicles that combine safety, passenger capacity and financial viability. He added that the Tanga Nine+ has been designed to address these priorities while helping operators improve income potential and offering a safer, more comfortable passenger experience.
RideAsia EV Expo 2026 featured more than 300 brands showcasing new products and technologies in the electric mobility sector. Zelio said the Tanga Nine+ received strong visitor interest and enquiries during the event.
Since its establishment in 2021, Zelio E-Mobility has expanded rapidly in India’s electric vehicle market. The company currently operates with an annual manufacturing capacity of 72,000 units, serves more than 200,000 customers, and maintains a dealer network of over 350 outlets across 20 states and union territories. Through continued innovation and product development, Zelio aims to make electric mobility more practical, affordable, and widely accessible for urban transportation across India.
