Mahindra Industrial Park Chennai Limited (MIPCL), a joint venture between Mahindra World City Developers Limited and Sumitomo Corporation of Japan, has announced that YKK India Private Limited, the Indian subsidiary of YKK Corporation, will set up a new manufacturing facility at Origins by Mahindra, Chennai. The development marks another significant milestone in the expansion of the integrated industrial cluster’s global manufacturing ecosystem.
According to YKK India, the new facility will be its third manufacturing plant in India and will involve an investment of approximately USD 150 million. Spread across nearly 149,936 square metres, the plant is expected to be completed by February 2028.
The proposed facility will manufacture fastening products for the apparel, textile and industrial sectors, serving both domestic and international markets. Designed as a technologically advanced manufacturing unit, the plant will incorporate YKK’s global expertise and production capabilities to support rising demand while strengthening export-oriented operations.
YKK India’s decision to establish operations at Origins by Mahindra, Chennai reinforces the industrial cluster’s growing reputation as a preferred destination for international manufacturers seeking scalable and future-ready industrial infrastructure. The development adds to a growing roster of global companies operating within the ecosystem, including Mitsubishi Electric, Yanmar and Omron.
