XtalPi Holdings Limited has completed the installation of an advanced automated formulation stability testing workstation at BASF’s Innovation Campus in Shanghai. The deployment introduces an integrated system that combines sample handling, laboratory testing, and digital data tracking into one continuous automated process, replacing manual procedures that previously required significant time and effort.
BASF evaluates thousands of liquid materials and formulations each year to assess long-term stability under different conditions. Earlier testing methods relied on manual preparation, temperature-based observation, and separate recording of results such as pH levels and viscosity. These methods were labour-intensive and vulnerable to inconsistencies.
XtalPi’s automated workstation now manages sample loading, barcode tracking, imaging-based analysis, and multiple laboratory measurements in a single streamlined workflow, improving reliability and repeatability of results. The project highlights XtalPi’s strength in robotics-enabled research platforms designed for large-scale industrial use.
Its modular architecture allows quick deployment and tailoring for specific production environments. The company has applied similar systems across drug discovery, advanced materials, and chemical synthesis projects, building experience in high-precision data generation and automated experimentation.
XtalPi Holdings Limited (XtalPi, 2228.HK) was established in 2015 by three physicists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The company operates as an advanced research and development platform that combines quantum physics, artificial intelligence and robotics.
By integrating first-principles calculations, AI-driven algorithms, high-performance cloud computing and standardized automation systems, XtalPi delivers digital and intelligent R&D solutions. Its technology supports innovation across multiple sectors, including pharmaceuticals, materials science, agricultural technology, energy, new chemical materials and cosmetics, helping organizations accelerate discovery and improve R&D efficiency.
