BASF has announced the addition of a new dispersions production line at its Mangalore site in India, increasing capacity to meet growing demand from coatings, construction, and paper industries. The expansion reflects BASF’s continued investment in India and its commitment to supporting customers with locally produced materials tailored to regional requirements. The new line is expected to improve supply reliability and strengthen BASF’s manufacturing network across Asia-Pacific.
Company representatives said India’s infrastructure development, industrial expansion, and rising consumer demand are driving increased need for high-performance dispersions used in paints, sealants, waterproofing systems, and packaging materials. The Mangalore upgrade will enable BASF to produce advanced materials designed for durability, efficiency, and environmental performance while reducing dependence on imports.
Andreas Fechtenkoetter, Senior Vice President for Dispersions Asia Pacific, said the investment will improve coordination within BASF’s regional production network and allow the company to deliver cost-effective, innovative solutions to customers in India and neighboring markets.
The new facility will manufacture dispersions used in architectural coatings that support low-odor and low-emission paint formulations, in construction materials that require strength and flexibility, and in paper and packaging applications that aim to improve coating performance while supporting sustainability goals. Milind Joshi, Business Director for Dispersions in South Asia, said the line is designed to produce high-quality materials that combine durability with environmental responsibility.
BASF has operated in India for more than 130 years and continues to expand its presence through investments in production and innovation.
